I find this hard to believe but we can wish. Now to wall off the left coast so their problems don't migrate to the rest of the West. We don't want what happened in Colorado to happen here.

I'm very happy to see that my county, where I own a home, would be in the New California. Maybe I won't have to sell and move to a sane state after all! It will be interesting to see if it can be done.

This very same subject (for Washington state) was on our local news, this morning. Due to recent legislation that, basically, bans property owners from drilling wells on their land, the push to secede from the west side of the state has gained substantial momentum.

The name for this new state is reported to be "Liberty", but I think that needs work. Personally, I would like to keep "Washington", for the east side and let the west side rename their new state to either "King", or that of some Indian tribe that nobody can pronounce.

The real slap in the Liberals' faces would be when Boeing and Microsoft both move their operations to the east side of the Cascades, to take advantage of the business friendly attitude, there.

I live on the East Side, here in the TriCities. Applications for water rights on the Columbia River were closed a few years ago -- a business partner and I were the last to be granted access to a canal from which to pull water to irrigate our agricultural acres. There is a backlog of water rights applications for well over a thousand acres. Growing crops such as cherries, blueberries or the modern high-density crops such as apples can generate $5-25k per acre in economic activity. On top of this, the irrigation makes the desert bloom and offers an overall cooling effect to the environment. As I understand it, the WA State Dept of Ecology has had a hand in making water unavailable. It's politics as usual.

Indeed -- Boeing, Microsoft -- and add Amazon to the mix in terms of companies that could benefit from departure from the Seattle area.

As a former San Diego resident, I can attest that there is no more beautiful place to live than California. From spectacular scenery tp large , unique farms of grapes, citrus, in an entire area as big as many European countries of high tech enclaves for a world leadership in technical innovation second only to Israel.Under normal circumstances California should be one of the most prosperous states in the USA swimming in cash reserves. But is it? No, it is not. Its wealth has been squandered by stupid, idiotic laws, environmentally, restrictive laws and prohibitive taxes. The people were presented with a Utopian Eden, a virtual heaven on earth, only to turn it into a messy shithole of socialistic horse manure.Democrats need only to look to Detroit to understand the future of California as their way of life under the Communistic system which they seem to embrace, and watch what happens once the money runs out.

I agree. Lived for a while in the San Diego area and found it to be absolutely beautiful. That was in the late 70s. Sad to hear that the western part of the state has turned into a toilet. I hope the eastern part of CA, OR and WA state split off from their western part and recover from the damages of socialism. When the money runs out they will be screaming for the fed to bail them out. I'm not in favor of that happening.

I just found it interesting as I used to live in the Land of Fruits and Nuts. They have been talking about the State of Jefferson for years in Northern Cali. I was stationed in Alameda (SF Bay area), lived in Berkeley and was also stationed in San Diego. So I have been exposed to both liberal areas up North and more conservative (at the time) San Diego. I enjoyed playing tourist when I got there but was more than happy to leave.

It would be interesting to be able to isolate the far progressive leftists in a few counties in California and watch the Reality of their policies bite them and chew off their posteriors. We could see "Mad Max" or "Escape from Los Angeles" play out for real. Then once all the loonies had literally eaten themselves, maybe we could form the nation of Atlantis ;)

Unfortunately, I suspect those in the remainder/coastal areas would realize they need to continue stealing the wealth from the rest of the current state to continue. They would not allow it to happen.

I wouldn't be surprised to hear that the coastal segments of California, Oregon, and Washington wish to become a new Canadian province, thinking Canada shares their progressive values. They'd be horrified to learn more about Canada's merit-based immigration system, and to be subject to the health care system they profess to admire. Governor Moonbeam still has delusional fantasies of acting like the president of a separate country, signing treaties like he was the president, which I believe is a criminal act.

Oregon and Washington States have the same issues, they are like mini-Californias. I would presume the states on the East Coast have the same issues. It must be sea spray that's the cause. Talking with practically everyone in Western Washington, a strong majority of us would like to break off from the west. In fact, there were plans to name our new state "Liberty". I escaped from the San Fernando Valley back in 1977, and escaped from the Seattle area in February 2016. Now I intend to stay and hold my ground where I'm at. Fortunately the rural population this side of the mountains still exceeds that of Spokane.

Imagine a low tax, low transfer payment regime in the New state. Most of the productive in Kal would move for the tax advantages and immediately try to convert the new state to Kommunism. They have already done it to WA and OR and NV, and AZ is barely hanging on.

Such a move would condemn Kommunist Kalifornia to collapse as they would retain the population, but not the economic power. Silicon Valley will migrate to another place, and KK would be stuck with all their illegals, PERS porkers and Hollywood. I would be on collapse in 2 years. However, this will never be allowed to happen, as KK needs all of them to pay for their social agenda and payoffs.

I was sort of hoping New Mexico would shuck off Santa Fe into it's own state. Maybe throw in Taos and Albuquerque, the Rio Grande valley areas. The rest of the state is red, but ABQ just elected a bleeding heart liberal who wants to make ABQ into a sanctuary city. More crime than is already here, boy I am glad I will be leaving soon.

If successful this could lead to others doing it. Could have the state of Chicago and the city state of New York. One can only dream. (It is yet to be seen if the dream is a nightmare or not.)

Coincidentally, me dino had just posted an item about San Francisco human poop maps for pedestrians when I looked around and saw this just four hours older.
Such maps must come under the "you name it" category of mentioned problems when the guy in your linked video was talking about the Old California he wants to shuck off.

Funny how the communists will end up with the ports of entry. I wonder what Tariffs they will tack on to things destined to New Cali?

We often joke that we just need to pray to Saint San Andreas to push the crazies into the ocean, and start again with the sane people.

Born and raised in the South, worked on Goldwater's campaign in Kentucky, came west to L.A. just in time for the Watts riots, eventually spent a half-career in Silicon Valley, got out after the earthquake, lived in Oregon, now Santa Fe.
I think something is wrong with this picture, but I'm running out of time! I no longer watch any television after coming here. Sometimes a head in the sand works, temporarily.

This would be fantastic. Unsupportable economy. All kinds of pointy jibes at the US, travel restrictions tariffs, etc. The rest of the US yawns, and New California becomes Haiti.

California is a shithole – chip of the parts that are redeemable and flush the rest into the Pacific.

Separatist Movements have boomed during the turn of the millenium. In Europe, the America´s, Middle East, etc. we´ve had our fair share of "amputated states". It´s nothing new. People are on an "independance rampage" due to reasons that are more passionate than rational.

A NEW CALIFORNIA huh? Like that won´t bloat the federal budget more? Come on ! Use your heads people !

" Due to reasons more passionate than rational "
The independence rampage in Spain could be more passionate perhaps , but rational in Iran ,GB with brexit as well as many US states. Many residents feel over run by the urban sanctuary cities entitled residents vote for food, with illegals a tsunami that forces a collectivist cancer in their life.
The divide and conquer approach the looters have
Adopted is being exposed. But they have succeeded in dividing while proclaiming all inclusiveness. . I guess that is separatist. When lied to again and again you don't align with the prevaricator.
