What Just Flew Past The Sun?

I saw this and immediately thought of all the times Star Trek clipped a star (The klingon civil war, Worfs brother does it, Picard does it a couple times, STNG a couple episodes where they went close to a star as a main theme, Kirk uses 3 times to go back and forward in time). So, maybe it was just the Federation coming for a visit? Also a Fox News Interview where Tucker basically says UFOs are now legitimate and they discuss the OHare Airport sighting from a few years ago and the lack of anyone wanting to even admit it happened (except for the 40-50 people who saw it).

Reminds me of the book "Rendezvous with Rama" by Arthur C. Clarke.

Liked the first one. The others not so much.

A better series in my opinion is John Ringo's "Troy Rising" series.

Troy Rising was awesome! I got them as audio books, and only wish he had continued them, he left us DIW with the last one.He worked with David Weber on the Prince Roger series and there are supposedly 2 more books showing on his web site, but nothing more for Troy Rising. He seemed to pick up on Webers style which is great, as Weber can tell a story in depth, and keep on going, I just wish he would get another HH book out to close that up, as he has about 3 different arcs going.

I really liked Weber's work - especially the Bolo series. From the looks of it, they also used the same artist for their cover art!

They all go through Baen Books, who seem to have the same cover artists. I am partial to Honor Harrington and all the assorted books that go with it, but Bolo was also really good.

The problem with Weber is he takes 100 pages of BS political meetings to advance the plot when 5 pages would be more than enough. Total waste of the readers' time. Make me want to scream "Get To The Point, Dammit!" Its too bad because he sets up very good battle scenes;^)
His work with Timothy Zahn is a little better (probably because Zahn is great at twists and turns of plot) and his cooperative efforts with female writers are the worst.

I didnt find that with the HH series, a lot of the stories needed the politics and stuff to advance some of the behind the scenes plots like the slave revolt and the whole business with Mesa.

Earlier books weren't so inclined. Later ones were. Yes, the political back story advances the plot (very very very slowly) but not without wasting a lots of time and paper. I think he is fascinated with the intrigue and blathers on and on. The HH series just insults the reader with the moronic superiority of their elitist monarchy with a little military meritocracy thrown in to keep the soldiers dutiful. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy some of his work, and writing good sci-fi is a real challenge. Sometimes he rises to that challenge and sometimes he doesn't.

That is a good assessment, I have just found the storylines intrguing enough to stay with them. A lot of it may be they come off good in audiobook with a good narrator. But I will still taker the Troy Rising series now, if John Ringo would just continue them. Maple Syrup for all!

Anyone consider NASA does this on purpose just to the tin hat crowd something to talk about? Looks like a drop in pixels. A little to Symmetrical for me. I drew something looking like that in MS paint. Eh. Who knows. Maybe it’s the romulans fighting the borg over who leaves us alone to the dominion

That one looks more like a comet that had too much speed to get sucked into the sun as in sun diving comets, which we see quite a few each week on SO morning reports.
As to the other things? Government? the NWO creatures, (which a like Aliens of the 3rd kind). They can project just about anything in the sky AND give it solidity!
As to the more strange stuff...I'd put a sign on each of our satellites stating: Warning! Enter at your own risk.
