Louisiana teacher handcuffed, arrested after bringing up brass salary at school board meeting

This is interesting, the looters always think the "elite" need raises (if you look at salaries for superintendents they bear no relationship to the job), but when the teachers and staff have not had raises, one has to wonder at the looter mentality thinking they need to give the guy a 30K raise. The to toss her out and arrest her...thats just not good. I am willing to bet their board is all of one party, as it seems when a single party is in power, they ram their agenda down our throats.

I seriously got choked up after witnessing the Stalinist tactics used at a school board meeting
    In the USA.
This type of footage used to be shown as an example of the evil red communist state....and I agreed. It looks to be more out of Minsk than Thibodaux.

This is just beginning to get going. It should be a lesson to everyone who buys into the "government cares" fantasy both parties like to pander with. Government ONLY cares about Government and those that directly enable its continued growth, like a bacteria.

Next the board will fire her.
After all "there's rules and protocols" that matter more than rational thinking and ethical behavior.

There is a union to consider, though. I don't like unions as a rule, as they are just mutated government, but sometimes they can be useful.

When I started my career with the Alabama Department of Corrections during the early 80s, the DOC had it in their heads that officers were on straight salary and they could work us any hours overtime without OT pay as much as they wanted.
"Where is your dedication?" was said to those who complained.
A lot of the officers were Birmingham area ex-steel workers (jobs went overseas) and got the AFL-CIO involved.
Then we got OT of comp time anytime we worked late.
Receiving am AFL-CIO magazine with Slick Willie's smiling face on it was quite the groaner. It was promptly trashed.

Yeah. If you say something they don't like at a school board meeting you can be arrested and hauled off for something like "disturbing the peace" or "thinking" or something similar. I, for a long time, have really, really been wanting to talk to our school board about Common Core. As an engineer and finance guy I think I understand the material facts. But...I decided that it'd be a waste of time. Now, instead, I work out an agreement with my kids' teachers so that they can skip common core math homework questions.

Glad to see you putting together capitalist plans! And I'm glad you have teachers who are willing to go along with you. For many teachers, its not so much about the kids as it is the ideology.

I'm an engineer with decades of experience using math to make the world a better place for my fellow humans. My attitude on this is, "Yeah? Wanna take me on over this? Bring it..." Most teachers are very cooperative on this. I even know one who's pro-Common Core and she'd probably let me do it, too. When somebody tells a kid that 7 + 6 = 10 AND 13 they better know they're in my sights...

The two most disturbing things I saw in the situation was that 1) a police officer was willing to go along with the order and arrest the woman and 2) the public went along with it, the entire attending populace should have been in the hall preventing the officer from 'doing his job'. The people keep waiting for permission to be free from the slave holders. It will not happen.

I noticed a few got up and left mumbling something like "This is wrong"..But yes, as long as people are willing to allow it, and not stand up in some way, it will continue, and has continued, for the last 200 years or so.

That was a show. Produced and directed. Even the dumbest cop would know that there was no need for handcuffs and the teacher's reaction to them way over the top.Lots of repeat showings on all of the various media. I must admit they did a masterful job.

Please explain the logic, this only made the school board look stupid and authoritarian, no positive value, and they are a creature that NEEDS positive value. They could have allowed the teacher her say, say "Thank you" and "Next" and have ridden it out. How would a show benefit anyone? Not that I disagree, as as soon as you mix a political creature into anything, all bets for logic are off, but I do not see a payoff here....

I am a complete stranger to the goings on of this situation.Someone for some reason wants the school board to look stupid. I don't know what the pay-off is. An upcoming election, perhaps? In any case, the situation is too contrived, the cop too stupid, the protester too over the top , we shall see in a few weeks as to how it all plays out.and I'll get to determine how acute my sensing of motivation is..Que sera, sera?

I can appreciate informed cynicism, given the high quality standards of both reporting and political posturing today, we will have to see what pans out, maybe this will all vaporize and drift away....

Most of these meetings are a sham. If you bring up a good point, they start a timer, and your time is up. They have a process... Yeah, it's called Rubber Stamping... We are SUPPOSED to disrupt that process...

Down in MIAMI we are paying the superintendent like a Basketball star!

In California, the School BOARD building is called the Taj Majal (sp) because it is ALL MARBLE.

In our schools, we have so many office staff and assistant principals. I think a full 30% of the workforce don't teach!

Bring back the little red school houses!

My sentiments for the last 30 years, I tried to help out our local school and gave up in disgust between criminal background checks to make sure you were safe to be around the little "criminals" and the fact the superintendent was a retired state senator getting 130K a years to do nothing "But he had a Phd"....BS.

The schools are a governmental institution and have been for so long that not a few of the districts are rife with corruption and incompetence.
My own district begged for a bond issue to build five new schools because they had too many students crammed into classrooms. They closed five other schools after they had the first four built because they didn't have enough teachers to staff all the schools and couldn't afford the upkeep on the "old" buildings.
They still retain ownership of the old buildings and use them for administrative purposes.

Exactly, mismanagement and corruption at it's finest. Useless dolts put in charge because "they have Phds" and so must get 150K a year to be morons. You can get politicians to be morons a lot cheaper. Then they do the Bond thing. I have voted NO on every bond issue for 20 years, as they have never proved they spend what they have usefully. Just like the rest of government.
