I'm not sure which angle to even begin with here. Welfare, sexuality identification, state over reach....
I'll pick this: If you get your sperm donor from Craigslist, your kid might have huge health bills
Also, I almost can't pick a category. I almost picked pics (because the pictures are kind of entertaining) :)

    Yes, they're Protestants. According to Wikipedia (always an ultra-reliable source, eh?) they are descended from the Anabaptist tradition.

    Mennonites are Christian? All I know about them is that they don't believe in modern medicine. One of my sisters was once engaged to a guy who decided to become a Mennonite and they broke up. I heard about 15 years ago that he died...from appendicitis. (Had to reply here to WWJGD because of the permalink affliction that your HUGELY POPULAR POST HAS BECOME. :)

    Well, that was the local rumor. That they were looking for certain kinds of men around town to impregnate their young wives. And supposedly, they didn't believe in artificial... anything... only all-natural...

    I was a fundamentalist Christian at the time and had a TERRIBLE time with all the thoughts & fantasies that that engendered...

    I can't vouch for any of it. NO idea what the bullshit percentage is in that story, but I heard it more than once, from more than one source.

    Hey! Not fair! 'Coz when I was living in Havre, Montana, I heard that the local Mennonite sect was so tiny, so inbred, that the young couples didn't dare have their own kids. So, according to local rumor, they were looking for "sperm donors" from the outside...

    So there! Christianity has now been brought into this thread!

    OK, it was eggs & sperm from some starfish that my biology teacher collected from the beach. Sorry to spoil your fantasy...
