OK, maybe. trust but verify-which is exactly what I would have said to the women on the Craigslist deal. I have close friends who were artificially inseminated and this is serious business. as well, if you can pick any sperm-surely you'd be looking for John Galt, Howard Roark, Ragnar, Francisco, Rearden types who were just starting out in life and maximizing assets.

We were not gay bashing OR tittering over their sexual lifestyles. I couldn't care less. The pictures were fun.... and what kind of idiot thinks that they're off the hook when they "father" a child... you can relinquish your rights to visitation, but not your financial obligations. (If the State is now going to pay for this kid, of COURSE they're going to go after a parent for support.)

The real story here is the State's intervention in, and abrogation of, a perfectly valid contract between private individuals (added later:) -- and the lesson of why charity is never a legitimate function of Government.

The pictures WERE entertaining. These "adults" have made a mess of things and now we're on the hook to pay for it. People take these risks because they really aren't all that risky, to THEM, because we have too many safety nets to pay the bill for bad decisions. As for the donor...(and his wife..the couple who run a foster home for kids)...REALLY?? I have a friend who fosters dogs...she's an absolute Nazi about people getting their animals neutered.
