I'm not sure which angle to even begin with here. Welfare, sexuality identification, state over reach....
I'll pick this: If you get your sperm donor from Craigslist, your kid might have huge health bills
Also, I almost can't pick a category. I almost picked pics (because the pictures are kind of entertaining) :)

OK, maybe. trust but verify-which is exactly what I would have said to the women on the Craigslist deal. I have close friends who were artificially inseminated and this is serious business. as well, if you can pick any sperm-surely you'd be looking for John Galt, Howard Roark, Ragnar, Francisco, Rearden types who were just starting out in life and maximizing assets.

And not advertise on Craigslist... (Let's just say it...they were looking for some cheap sperm and no one they knew, that could provide it, wanted to contribute...)

In fairness, if you had been looking at such as a resource to sell, I suggest anonymity. perhaps an escrow account/situation as part of the contract.

We were not gay bashing OR tittering over their sexual lifestyles. I couldn't care less. The pictures were fun.... and what kind of idiot thinks that they're off the hook when they "father" a child... you can relinquish your rights to visitation, but not your financial obligations. (If the State is now going to pay for this kid, of COURSE they're going to go after a parent for support.)

Hey, can we please act like adults here and do without the gay-bashing and tittering over other people's sexual lifestyles?

The real story here is the State's intervention in, and abrogation of, a perfectly valid contract between private individuals (added later:) -- and the lesson of why charity is never a legitimate function of Government.

Like Anne Heche... Swings both ways... She takes up with Ellen Degeneres, then leaves her for a man and has a kid...I guess she's now with another man. To each his/her own...
    (The photos are priceless.)

The pictures WERE entertaining. These "adults" have made a mess of things and now we're on the hook to pay for it. People take these risks because they really aren't all that risky, to THEM, because we have too many safety nets to pay the bill for bad decisions. As for the donor...(and his wife..the couple who run a foster home for kids)...REALLY?? I have a friend who fosters dogs...she's an absolute Nazi about people getting their animals neutered. (That's all I'm sayin').
