Funny thing whenever a gov't shutdown is mentioned or happens, it is the parks and memorials that make the news. The stuff really bleeding tax payers dry keeps the knife in deep and twisted to get as much blood out as possible.

This isn’t what has happened in the past with a shutdown. Outside of Washington, the pains were never really felt. Aggravating at times, but not remotely unbearable. Everyone looked at their budget and adjust accordingly, but this shutdown was meant to be as painful as possible on the direction of this President. Chicago politics. I’ve seen plenty of shutdowns. This is the first time that a President failed to bend over backwards to calm the fears of the American people and to remind us democracy is a struggle. You know: the ole ’sausage-making isn’t pretty’ speech. No, this one, decided to exploit the shutdown. He sent a bunch of minions out to list off the things he planned to close --like the WW2 Memorial. He intentionally raised the revulsion and the fear-level. If we were a unified country everyone would be disgusted with HIM for failing to give the families of the fallen their benefits so they could bury their loved ones. This isn’t the first time he has pulled this crap. It’s his verve. He would ripped the souls from all of us without conscious to march us all forward to his version of Utopia, where ever the hell that lies. Like, Marx; like Mao; like no one I would ever follow.

Maph: The "truth" would have been something along the line that the closures were unnecessary, and vindictive, and that these Park Rangers were obviously paid to keep the gates manned...while they could have just as easily manned the parks themselves.

That 'disclosure' would have made sense, and supported the sentiments of the unanimous 'whistle blowers'.

I'm not sure what the purpose of this video was...but, it certainly wasn't very "haunting".

The video says the people who work for the park service workers mostly love the parks and hate having to keep people out.

The tenor of the commenters is "Baloney! The part service workers are actually focused on assigning blame just as I am. No one out there just loves parks and doesn't care that much about politics."
