Read with the proverbial pinch of salt, but the concept is interesting, even if merely spiteful. The move to eliminate exemptions for state taxes paid on federal income tax forms is an elimination of a subsidy from the States with low tax policies to the States with high tax policies - most notably New York and California. What the article doesn't sufficiently address is how exactly the States are going to shelter this money. I'm interested in details if you have them.

The other twist to this is that in one far-fetched form, this is practically annulment. What is interesting is that for all the progressive States bloviate about it, they are particularly subjective about which Federal laws they choose to go after (most notably immigration and now federal drug laws).
