The white peoples habit of shopping at the farmers market creates gentrification.
Apparently when a good or service improves an area. White people will move to the area improve their property and price the non white out of the neighborhood. With that premise Home Depot is like the klan.
F....ing idiots.

    Laughing at your response.
How about we say:...price the dependent, those kept, those unproductive out of the neighborhood.
Isn't that what life's about? Being productive, making a mark, leaving this world better than when you found it?

Gentrification...the process of renovating and improving a house or district so that it conforms to middle-class taste:

Now That is bad also...I think we just topped: Bizarro's world.

This is not a new tactic . Trader Joes dropped out of a new store development because they were going to be extorted for gentrification. 2014
the Portland Development Commission's deal to bring Trader Joe's to a vacant lot in Northeast Portland brought unprecedented attention to an African-American group with little name recognition.

The first that many people had heard of the Portland African American Leadership Forum was its scathing letter to the media and PDC in December, accusing the urban renewal agency of perpetuating gentrification in what used to be majority black neighborhoods. The group demanded the $8 million Trader Joe's project be halted or reconstituted with the addition of affordable housing.

But when Trader Joe's announced Monday it was pulling out due to "negative reactions from the community," PAALF was as surprised as anyone. News broke hours before leaders were set to hold a news conference on other issues. They largely avoided questions from reporters about Trader Joe's.

I guess it's "to White" to become part of the middle class of creators and producers. They had the chance to assimilate into the American Ideal and blew it!

As soon as you describe yourself as xxxx-American, you blew your chance to assimilate into the American Ideal. BTW how many self-described African-Americans were born in any country on the African continent? Heck how many self-described AAs have ever set foot on the African continent? I am 1st generation American, I could refer to myself as xxx-American or yyy-American, but I don't - I am American.

Turns out to be a much colder December than usual since the early 50's on the shore line in Ct.
Night before last it was 3.1 degrees at 12AM, wind chills are in the 10/11degrees below 0...needless to say, the dogs did their business Really Quick!

I grew up inland, high upon a hill, the second tallest in Ct and we never, to my memory, had temps even close to 0 in Dec.
I have burned a cord of wood already to save on oil...$'s of which has gone Up!

The only saving grace is the snow storms have only dropped 2" of very dry snow at a time on the shore. I just broomed the driveway. Probably 1' to 2' in the north western regions.

I was curious about your snow levels because almost everywhere east of the Great Lakes, along that latitude, has gotten 5' already.

Yesterday, on Mt Washington, New Hampshire, it was a -87 degrees below 0!!!

                  P.S. Thought you'd be interested.
Yesterday on Fly on the Wall, Suspicious Observers, a scientific paper was being discussed that suggested that [pre conscious-my addition] man had the same abilities as other mammals to share information, innovations in their evolution, unconsciously of course, and change their behaviors across the planet.

This is the "interconnectedness" many speak of, especially on the left, the greenies and environ[mental]ist. This got me to thinking, isn't it curious, that the "Left" all over the world, seem to have the same "Brain" sets. Might this be a proof of their Non-Consciousness?
We can't blame it all upon the internet...a good portion of the worlds population still doesn't have it, but they still think that way. We don't necessarily find that on the right. The only music we all march to is Liberty but are diverse on all other subject matters.

Further in their conversation among specialist in their fields, say it's no different than quantum entanglements in the ether.

Little by little, I am finding that I am not "Crazy" after all...laughing.

                  Whoa!
I'm supremely happy to have moved sout from Michigan to anywhere below the snow line. When you get what they call "Lake effect snow" it is wet, heavy and miserable (looks pretty) but we get more rain, however, you don't need to shovel rain.Lots of flooding last year, though. However, our developer had the good sense to build 3 huge retention ponds on our neighborhood, so, no problems. The ponds are perfect baseball fields in the summer.

Nothing more "white" than wanting to get fresh vegetables at a reasonable price? Then call me "Snow White". By the same token, however, doesn't this imply that Blacks are willing to pay high prices for sub-standard produce? All one has to do is reverse the argument and one can see how truly racist this argument really is.

Long before stadiums and parking lots, Pittsburgh in the fifties had a vibrant 'farmer's market' on the North Side below the railroad tracks. Friday night was farmer's night and everybody went. It was only a vacant lot where local growers paid a fee, parked their trucks and sold just picked fruits and vegetables, fresh baked bread and other goods, plus meats and cheeses from family run businesses in Pennsylvania and Ohio, I guess 40 to 60. Several of these truck farms were near to where we lived and some distant cousins came from twenty miles south with newly dug potatoes. Little did we know this was truck garden cultivated racism and gentrification. Progressive urban planning destroyed that and the area now has stadiums, resident suite hotels, overpriced restaurants, and touristy attractions; the real vitality of the area never returned. Those places being 'gentrified' are merely being returned to their former shape after urban planning blighted the area.

Whatever happened to "we should locate there because it looks like an area where we can make a buck?"Next came studies of population growth and income growth of the area and will we get to stay for at least 8 years in order to make our investment back plus a fairly juicy profit. As far as I know, as someone who has been in the retail brick & mortar type stores for a number of years that was the only consideration. What the social implications of the combination of stores was not at the forefront of our consideration.

Amazing how easily people can take offense at the behavior of others. I suppose if I went to a club where mostly black people went and didn't like it I would still be the racist not them even though they were busy cultivating their bias toward me??
I am not racist although I do discriminate to a high degree which probably explains why I have few people that I qualify as friends and as I get older my friends have begun to disappear from the planet and I don't know that I care to put in the effort to find more of their quality.

I am definitely a culturist. I like some cultures and dont like others. I could care less about "race" actually and never did. BUT, that said, when I look at the entitlement of most black people today (not all), I would be called "racist". I could care less about being labeled that actually, as it is factually incorrect. Nevertheless, as a matter of efficiency in conducting my life, I tend to avoid black people UNLESS they show me they arent entitled. Good thing I will never run for political office- I would be disqualified for that comment I am sure.
