The Stinky Chicken

One of the most annoying things that the Left does is to perform the Stinky Chicken. That comes from an old Yiddish joke that translates somewhat as follows: An elderly woman walks into a butcher shop, (Something you can rarely find nowadays) she asks to see one of the chickens in the display case. The butcher grabs a chicken and hands it to her, she takes it and sniffs under the wings, at the crotch and all over the body. .She hands the chicken back to the butcher and exclaims, "This chicken sinks!" Whereupon the butcher replies, "Lady, Miss America couldn't pass a test like that.!" What has this to do with politics? Every time Trump speaks, every word is is parsed and every sentence is scrutizied to the point where the intent is lost in the analyzation and often appears to have an entirely different meaning.Americans! This sentence stinks! Folks, Abraham Lincoln couldn't pass a test like that!

His tweets lack the dignity of the office. That is unfortunate. He should be speaking as if he speaks for the country (which he does). He could offer the same messages and offend the left identically, without sounding (being?) so childish.

A British guy living and working in Finance in Spain asked me over drinks what I thought about the election results. I said, "It is impossible to defend the childish ravings of Trump, but he is far better than our other alternative." He stood up and shook my hand across the table.

Everyone denigrates his tweets. I like them. It changes the perspective. When they attack him, he tweets and all at once he is the attacker, bringing his message directly to the people.Sure, it's not dignified, and definitely not polispeak, but his followers love it. He becomes them.

Nice analogy! I have been thinking the same.

Although, Trump unnecessarily stirs the pot. He could just act without some of his silly tweeting and save some fraction of this. Perhaps he brings it on purposefully to demonstrate the media bias, but it makes it difficult to argue for his support without apologizing for idiotic things like the wall.

Worse than the parsing is the mythical extrapolation, always in a negative direction. When he says "someone should go to jail," the next line from the media is "Today the President threatened to jail his political opponents." When they can't find a quote to distort, they throw up any handy anonymous rumor, like how Trump is planning to fire Mueller, and run with that as though it was a fact.

This isn't a new sad fact. Mark Twain said "When you don't read a newspaper, you're uninformed. When you read a newspaper, you're misinformed."

This was a known fact long before the republicans ever won back control. Nothing the republicans ever do will ever pass the smell test and everything the democrats do get passed over by that same test. Rejoice while we can because it is just a temporary thrill up our legs.

If these people who eagerly lap up the versions of Trump's speeches the media parses out for them actually heard many of these speeches in their entirety their heads would explode. The speeches I've heard (not edited) have been very, very good. But....people believe what they want to believe.

The way the left turns a phrase, a word,a definition, or a sentence; inside out, backwards and upside down until it sounds like it says what they want it to say...George Washington...the most moral and humble man and president of our country...might have trouble passing that test.

    Hi Herb7734,
It still blows my mind that folks find fault with putting America first or take the power out of Washington and give it back to the people.
