With most everything on video...Who will read in the future?

This article is chiefly about the war of videos and propaganda on Facebook versus youtube and one's mind, brain and subconscious. It gives one a bit of history as well.

Here is my take, based on my studies and writings:
The Picture driven brain.

Those stored pictures in the brains of mammalians represent real world realities but in the human brain, those pictures also represent our hopes, fears and desires...all the things dreams and nightmares are made of.

The written word, like the spoken word can empower, elate or deceive equally; but by adding pictures into that equation can literally 'cement' into the brain, the intent, be it, bad, good or misrepresented, more so, than the written word ever could.

All things can be used for good or for evil, it is true, but pictures do alter or augment one's reality to a greater extent.

One might forget the words but rarely shun himself from the pictures stored in one's brain automatically.
Pictures are built into the bicameral brain where words were invented and put there.

That's not the end of this discussion, There is a lot more history, more dangers and some benefits to combining the spoken word, the written word, pictures and motion. I think we need all of it.

Like everything else, doing one thing makes Jack a dumb boy.

At a time when parents are trying to limit the video a child watches a tsunami is coming . It is true, as both Mendelsohn and Connolly state, that video is a far more powerful medium to deliver information. In that truth, though, lies a grave danger. It is far easier to manipulate the emotions through video than it is through the written word. Video conveys information through something akin to osmosis, the recipient need only to open his eyes and ears for the information transfer. Reading, on the other hand, requires an active participant, it demands the recipient of information think through and imagine the arguments or story, and to digest the meaning over time.

Yes...and that is another important point...watching and learning from videos only, limits or even vanquishes imagination. It's another, among many things that confound our natural and important human abilities.

Thinking in pictures is important and videos can, if done responsibly, honestly and creatively link the proper emotions with words spoken and written; for it is an integrated emotional effort that allows one to traverse the quantum snaps and gain one's much sought after insights.

Those 'new' Pictures can spawn new thoughts, ambitions and inquirers into spoken and written words for others to read.
