There are some (I'm not one of them) who postulate that Mueller expected he would find no collusion to start with, and deliberately filled the team with Trump haters so he could defend a "no finding" report, saying "Look, if these guys, who don't like the President to start with, can't find anything, that should put an end to it." I suspect the real reason for these idiots being on the team is because they share Mueller's view of the world.

He could have also ended Flynn's agony by giving him a blanket pardon (and could still do so after this charade is over). I personally believe that Trump is trying to make a point by tolerating this unending irritation that he has nothing to fear, and it only serves to prove the baselessness of all the hatred aimed at him. That may make points with his base, and eventually with any independents who are persuadable, but the haters are for the most part irrational, and will remain that way regardless of any findings of innocence.
