NASA seeks options for Mars data relay in which NASA would purchase relay services from a commercial service provider to support users at Mars, including landers and rovers and, potentially, aerobots and orbiters. In this model, the commercial provider would own and operate relay orbiter(s), and NASA would contract to purchase services over some period of time… NASA encourages innovative ideas for cost-effective approaches that provide backward-compatible UHF relay services for existing landers, as well as significantly improved performance for future exploration activities.

Moon ... Mistress is my favorite novel, maybe Puppet Masters second although there are so many excellent other novels. Also loved the hopeful story, Lost Legacy.

That is a really tough choice between "Starship Troopers" and "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress"

In the end though I have to give the nod to "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" They had enough and made the moon their Gulch

On that focus, "Farnham's Freehold" has a lot to recommend it too.

Read RAH, "The Man Who Sold The Moon". Lots of good ideas there for the right promoter with the vision, and passion, to get it done.

Too bad it took killing their budget for them to attempt commercialization of space efforts.

Thanks for the info on deep space telecom. I'll forward this to my e-mail blast to Space Coast engineers.
