‘troubled’ by Geraldo’s response to Matt Lauer?

Geraldo is dead on here with reason and common sense.
As to his impression of Lauer?..It probably wasn't all fun and games is my thinking here, but here again, he is treated as guilty, just like all the others we don't have Picture proof against.
I am afraid to even "Look" at a women these days.

I've been wracking my brain trying to remember if I have ever abused my power (little that I've ever had) and took advantage of a woman. I can only remember three instances (I did not really take advantage, it was more of going with the flow, they were all complicit). In any case I should get a pass since I married all three. Just one at a time of course. I've still got the last one, just celebrated 40 years. Too late to break in a new one anyway.

This brings up a new political issue. Under today's liberal standards, is it considered cheating if you aren't getting any at home? Perhaps we can get Congress to write some new laws that specifically define "it". I haven't seen a new law yet defining "is". Just kidding of course, since this is only speculation on this issue and has nothing whatsoever to do with me personally (my legal disclaimer).

You inspected your own behavior before weighing in on the conversation. That shows me you are a conscious human being.
Problem is these days, is that those that are not have monkey see'd, monkey do learned to imitate that behavior.
I for one, am not flattered.

All of this is just foreign to me. I was reared with the belief that a real man treated women with respect. I do blame modern feminism for part of this, as the leaders of that tribe went into the game declaring that all men were like these sexual abusers, and that women had to become more sexually aggressive to become dominant in the conflict. That began to send a misguided message that all women really wanted to be regarded as sex objects, feeding the delusional fantasies of the permanently adolescent. Of course then there's the enlightened Bernie Sanders, who contends that all women fantasize about being raped.

saw this during my career as an airline pilot...stayed at same hotels as "celebs" where women lined up in bar/reception area to take "turns" with celebs to go upstairs and take their best shot with the celeb...Matt Lauer came to "expect" women to want "sex" with him...does not excuse anything he did...just the way things are with celebs and women...Wilt Chamberlin said he had sex with a million women....the women threw themselves at him and all the other celebs...they all deserve each other...but his associates knew what was going on and looked the other way...they should all be fired...don't you hate discrimination...

Sure, that all happens. But, don't confuse the two: NBA players vs. Matt Laurer. They seem very different to me.

I was once in a rock band many years ago. We openly joked, and still do, about how women approach a member of a rock band after the set. I was a good boy. And, I thought it was ok. Why? Because I wasn't in a position of power. I was never the aggressor, ever. I never acted on it, either - but that's beside the point.

Experienced this syndrome myself, to a much lesser degree when playing in a band when I was younger; then again, in my mid 30's, being divorced and one of the few males in the dancing crowd that could actually dance...got "Used and Abused" a lot!

      [No joke or bragging either]

I flew south America for American...all the flight attendants were from those countries....they would line up at your door on lay-overs to take turns proving their worth to you...they did not care if you were married as long as you did not fool around them...they had a high STD rate...I stayed away from...other pilots thought they had died and gone to heaven until they landed in health hell....

What makes me shake my head is that this was all a pretty foreseeable result of corporate culture. The News industry in general wants "sexy" or "attractive" people to man the desks because they long ago ceased to be actual journalists and sidetracked themselves into the entertainment industry. In that respect, Geraldo is correct. It is the culture of the business that enables these behaviors. Only changing the industry's culture will restore any semblance of rationality or respect.

Yep. We really don't want to be fed the news by "moma cass" types but at the same time, we really don't need to be lookin at overly exposed big tits and long legs all the time either.
Maybe if they promoted a culture of modesty and seriousness, thereby avoiding all the sex trappings, it just might bring everyone else to their senses also. Much can be done by example, suggestion and discussion.

I am not being a prude here, just looking for some balance and self respect; it's clear that the "Be what ever you will, anything goes" behavioral model doesn't work to our benefit.

[Sarcasm]You must be okay with raping someone an intentionally infecting her with HIV then!![/Sarsasm] Just kidding. That's what people say to this.

I have no idea if it's true, but I heard Lauer had a button under his desk that would lock the doors. He used it to keep a woman from feeling and overpowered her, the story goes. It could be lies. Anyway, we should never lump this behavior in with inappropriate but non-criminal behavior. I agree you could look at someone the wrong way and if you were famous end up on the same list of people accused of "sexual misconduct" as someone accused of using a door-lock control to trap and someone and physically attack her.

Seems he admitted it today...haven't heard the whole thing but seems he fooled Geraldo's too!

Still, we shouldn't need to establish what is and what isn't harassment...firing a guy for asking someone out to dinner? come on now.

The line to tow was established a long time ago...but...The left will always take things to extremes...after all, they Are the "Sky is Falling" idiots dating back to the voo doo tribesmen prior to civilization of any kind.

The danger of lumping unwanted attention with violent sexual attacks and predators may backfire.
As most of the leftist solutions for any problem do.
This guy Lauer is a pig of the worst sort. He was in a position of authority and daily lecturing our country down the path of Altruism. He was condescending to Bill O'Riley and Cory Feldman
and the next minute ambushing a young intern.

It used to blow my mind trying to understand preaching one thing while doing the opposite...but now, I get it,..it's simple, they just have no awareness of their own behavior, not to mention any control over it. It just never occurs to them because they are just Not Conscious.

But, look at where all this ends up. We will no longer be able to express, appreciation, sympathy or empathy with a simple hand on a women's shoulder or dare I just gently rub her upper back.; I've done that countless times even a pat on the back of guys...just the way I was brought up. Nothing sexual about it...it's just mutuality.

I realized just the other day that I might have to control that behavior and risk being thought of as insensitive.

It's a very sad day for the consciously human.

I think being conscious allows you to decide when your actions will be understood or not and whom you will extend your empathy to.
The work place for the last thirty years in my expirience was to respect the coworkers and to act professionally to each other. You could kid around with some and others required a more formal interaction.

Yes, once you know someone, but today...more and more people are hard to read and yes, I have strayed away from them. It's not often but to think one day, being your normal self, you unknowingly empathize with the Wrong person.

It is just one more thing one must be consciously aware of every moment...that's not what I'd call "Freedom".

This isn’t really about sex. It’s about using one’s perceived or imagined power to control the behavior of other people. Everyone has the power over his own thoughts and actions. If your boss requires you to willingly kneel and call him excellency you can refuse if you don’t want what he offers in return
