I have researched Common Core rather extensively and getting to the bottom of who did what takes some investigative skill and patience. Fortunately, there are heros and heroines who have done this already and the videos are up on YouTube.

In Texas, they didn't adopt Common Core; however, there is a back-door organization called C-Scope who has privately utilized government employees via a non-profit institution to distribute Common-Core-like materials through an expensive lease agreement, online, to Texas school superintendents, then to the teachers. 80% of Texas public schools are using it in some form or fashion.

When I heard what some of the application was of all this and that it is fundamentally designed to institute the Agenda 21 from the 1992 Rio Summit, I knew I was onto something and I have sought to educate more and more parents in my periphery and sphere of influence. Most people just don't have a clue and I credit our local State Senator who brought this to the forefront on his locally owned radio station where he has a clear and uninterupted voice to his constiuents outside the Texas Beltway.

I wish that was the worst of it. We see, but we do not observe. If our values result in us being shocked over burka-wearing children vs how core reading and math are being taught, we are backward, but it is simply the fact that reading and math are relegated which results in these multicultural activities being elevated within the curriculum.

There should be something analogous to the Accreditation Board of Education and Technology (ABET) but for grade schools. Having national standards seems really important. If they were high enough and focused in specific areas, you could use a high school diploma to show you're qualified for specific jobs.

If local gov'ts weren't the main provider of education for the middle class, we wouldn't have to have this debate. We wouldn't have to debate whether the Fed or state gov'ts should design these tests.

LS, did you watch the video which shows up on the right, regarding Colorado's race to the middle? skip the introductions and start when the woman Sandy speaks. She was in charge of curriculum development for MA, and then was on the Common Core validation committee. Her remarks are quite eye-opening. that's the farthest I've gotten through-the whole thing is over an hour. but wow
