It's a Kindle Fire, which I think is a little bigger than a regular Kindle but I'm not sure. I will look up the Ayn Rand suggestion :) Thanks! Where are you? (I have huge fears of leaving the States any more. I grew up in MI, right across the river from Canada, used to go there constantly, but I won't even go over the bridge anymore when I'm visiting MI.) Then again, if I could get a way with never leaving my house I probably never would. :)

does yours have the larger screen? I left mine behind in the states earlier this month and couldn't replace it where I am without significant cost. so, my son is bringing me a new one when he visits us early next month. in the meantime, he scored mine-which meant I gave one to my daughter for Christmas. in the meantime, I have been using my laptop to read (you can download a Kindle app on another computer and access your library). I have a great book suggestion for you. Ayn Rand: Early, Unpublished Works. It is a collection of short pieces-some plays other short stories, some edited chapters of Fountainhead which didn't make it. My favorites are "Kira's Viking" which is a romantic fairy tale, and "The Husband I Bought" which shows a young Rand just formulating maturity in her philosophy. I guarantee tears in reading that piece. You'll also see how she is adjusting to English in some of these pieces. It's a gem and it's on Kindle.

A little bit... lol My friends have been raving about theirs and I keep rejecting the idea...I may be hooked. However, unlike them, I will ALWAYS have and keep hard copies of the books I love in the house (I don't trust electronics and I just watched Fahrenheit 451, lol, on my Kindle).

Kindles are so great. you'll love it. My husband is an author and the % received from a Kindle purchase is a higher royalty than print version, currently. I believe no sin has been committed. just wait until you discover the Kindle lending library and electronic Solitaire :)

My family got me a Kindle Fire for Christmas. I have been a little leery of using an electronic book reading device, but I laid in bed last night, in the DARK and read Anthem in it's entirety even though I have the paper copy sitting right next to me. Have I sinned? (Oh God, that better not invite a response from the unnamed one.) Anyway, I rather enjoyed the lit up screen. Now maybe I'll finish We the Living, which I've been half way thru for 2 months now.... life! My Mom has read the Overton Window, but I haven't yet, it is on my list. :)

When I read all of this blustery talk below, I can't help wondering how many will, when push comes to shove, choose the former.

Sometimes I wonder if it is more than just seizing on a tragedy for political gain. Keep us all focused on this issue while they seriously undermine other freedoms and it all goes un-noticed until too late. Diversionary tactics....
I need to take a course on tactical strategy-maybe I should breakdown and read Beck's The Overton Window, I think I downloaded it to Kindle and then never cracked the electronic cover
