    Actually if was done for a good reason. They heard about Obama's "fairness" agenda. They realized that some people just run slower than others, but perhaps they can corner better and make up some time in the corners. After all it only makes it "fair".

    I like it. It tests maneuverability not just straight line speed.
    Quick changes in directions are needed in today's world in politics, technology and now running.
    I'd like to think that is what was intended, I doubt it though.

    Another fine example of that "superior" socialist engineering talent.

    It makes sense. The corners were severely worn due to overuse. So make a track that is impossible to use.

    I can see it now - the 2024 Olympics, a new track and field event - Chinese Square Track.
