Free Speech?

Let's wander back in time just a bit, and remember when some of the few conservative students at U of C Berkeley planned to hold a Free Speech Week which would include speakers from both the left and right. They got together for a practice session and guess who showed up? Why, Antifa, of course. Did they come with gifts? No, they came with pipes, and bats, and smoke bombs. Did the mayor, a liberal Democrat, condemn the fracas caused by Antifa? He only supports free speech when the left wants to rant, so he finally became aware that there was violence, so instead of condemning Antifa, he suggested canceling the event in order to prevent violence. That made the Democrats happy. Not so much the case with conservatives. And guess who else will have their rights to free speech curtailed? Any one on the right and any speakers whose subject is not approved by --who? Who are on the unapproved list? Here are a couple of examples: Christians because pro religion groups are not welcome, Pro Israel advocates, because they're a democracy. in the Middle East The Founders would be amazed as to what passes for free speech at a major university. The new Democrat paradigm is that free speech is hate speech. This means that if your adversaries (Anyone on the right) express their viewpoint it is hate speech, the brain dead millennial snowflakes and the students who have been well taught by the radical left to have contempt for America's founding documents will be right there with bats and clubs. So don't be flabbergasted if when they are polled they actually are opposed to free speech.

As some look to a supine clergy for they find for the most part a disgrace of people managing to stay upright without a spine. They can look to the DOJ, the FBI, and high ranking officials only to find that they are well below the water level in the swamp which hides and covers up any exposure of their improper acts and the reality that if we're not yet a failed state, we're getting damn close.

Antifa has communist roots. Think most of us has already figured that out without these links~

Either that or it is saturated with Communist ideology. The only difference is that it can get away with spectacular atrocities in the Middle East that wouldn't work in the west.

Always is a "big" word, but not worth arguing over.

              Hello, allosaur,
May I point out that Marx only provided an ideological framework for the communism. He never had even remotely the power to implement it. It is Lenin, Stalin, Tito, Mao, Pot et al. who were ruling communists. I lived for 18 years under one of them. The consequences for saying anything disparaging ranged from expulsion from school, not being allowed to go to college, loosing the job, jail and sent to an island prison (known as Naked Island) to manually brake limestone rocks into pebbles.
              EDIT: corrected misspelling

One reason Objectivism doesn't catch fire in the world is that there are no Lenins taking the Barnum role with it. There are a number of other reasons as well. Perhaps a different discussion.....

Yoiu missed "break"which would escape a spell check system's red underlining. I'm missing the spell checker I had here until my PC went glitchy offline last week.
That's kinda what I was thinking about Karl Marx.
I do know Marx was living under the rule of German royalty spanning the 1800's when he lived. (Unless he moved elsewhere. I dunno!).
Shortly after winning the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-71, Prussia unified all the German duchies and whatever into an empire ruled by a couple of Kaisers until losing World War One, that turning how Germany would be ruled from then on upside-down.
I relearned all that high school history researching for a novel that takes place in 1914 Belgium.

When we all wake up to the fact that we are in an undeclared uncivil war the left will find a formidable challenge. UNtill then the left will destroy Liberty bit by bit.

When I wrote the above I was either in a rage, drunk or sleepy because of all the grammatical errors. The wonder is that it still made sense. I'd say I was drunk but I'm not allowed to drink, (nudge, nudge, wink, wink.)

One of the great American novels.
Atticus Finch is a hero right up there with the Randians. The scene where he shoots the dog (in the movie) takes off his glasses and throws them aside, is one of the high points for me.

One non-antagonistic but sincere question: Do you, Herb, consider advocates of Ayn Rand's philosophy to be "on the right"?
If so, or if not, what is your definition of "right"?
    Thank you.

One side realizes this is war. The rest of us just stumble around and seem shocked that our colleagues are being beaten over the head with bike locks.
