Signs of the Times

I keep forgetting to get a picture of this one sign; I'll post it as soon as I can remember.

As some folks know, I work maintenance at Wal-mart (at least until they catch me mentioning them online, at which point... who knows?)

When I get to do my job, that is, wax the floors, the procedure is to rope off (literally) the area to be waxed, and to hang signs warning people not to enter.

Now, when I started, almost 2 years ago, now, the signs were polite... "closed area; keep out; thank you".
Sometimes I'd get half a dozen people trying to walk across the floors we were working on a night.

I tried variations, such as, "Waxing in progress; please keep out; thank you"; even to the point of the ridiculous; "Wal-mart customer parking"... "ignore this sign"... "execution hazard"...

I almost always used "thank you" in all of them... or at least please.

I think I've stumbled upon a set of signs seem to be working (see image below?).

I gave up on the "thank you"; added the "danger!". But, what seems to be most discouraging is warning them that we're using a universal solvent as dangerous as dihydrogen monoxide. Last night and night before I got to wax, and not one person tried to enter our roped-off area.

The sign I keep seeing and wanting to capture can probably be seen at any Wal-mart.
The sign is on the register where we sell tobacco products and reads (from memory):
Selling tobacco products to persons under 21 years of age is not only wrong, it's illegal".

Think of the mindset of that statement. "Illegal" is considered *worse* thank "immoral"... which is what "wrong" in this context must mean.

I clearly remember as a child, being warned that certain behaviors were not only against the rules, they were just plain wrong. But, not until I saw that sign did I ever see it the other way around.

"What is that?? Will it hurt the food??" ha ha
I used to grocery shop laaaate at night when I worked nights.....and I always hated the floor cleaners because they were always in the aisle I needed to get in the most. I would go down there on foot and get what I needed.... NOT making another trip the dreaded grocery store!
Sorry...I'm one of THOSE people. (Loved the empty store at night though...minus all the stock skids of course.)

Outstanding sign. Most of the customers do not have the requisite education to ascertain the actual cognomen of this polysyllabic compound.

I can't wait for the inevitable outcry. "Why is Walmart using such dangerous chemicals to clean its floors?!" Hahaha. Brilliant sign.

People are too stupid to tie their shoes. When something is roped off, because it is an active work site, BINGO! Keep out. Duhhhh
