And those "college educated" athletes go on to be professional athletes where they use their "celebrity" to tell rational, hard-working Americans how to live their lives, who is competent to be president, how racist they are, and how guilty they should feel about everything they do to make an honest living to support their families.

We know the difference between right and wrong, don't we? But when something is taught to us as being wrong, but is allowed, doesn't that change the wrong to right?. And, as we tread down the lane of time, we note that more and more wrongs are becoming right. This causes many side paths which we have been warned in the past as being self destructive. But what is the worse consequence of all this is that right and wrong, good and bad, sort of melt together in an amorphous blob where bad becomes good, wrong becomes right and all rules are to be questioned in order to convert them.Blurry definitions and their consequences are the same as no definitions or consequences at all.

Remove tax money from these institutions and from the support given professional teams and the money the athletes get paid would drop dramatically if the sports arena were operated as a true business (schools should be operated the same way) this would probably reduce the 'celebrity' status that most athletes enjoy and reduce their influence on the culture. Games are fun but they are not life.

I don't know what to do about the sham college athletics has become. Rules aren't our "go to" answer. Seems like the "baby pros" are just that, and real, well-rounded students exist in the margins or by their virtue alone.

It would be nice to see Betsy DeVros apply some acedemic rules to college athletics to be eligible for federal funding.

I have always felt that College athletics is a giant waste of money and that they have no part of the educational mission of the universities. I recently made a sales call on a small religious based college in NC. They had an enrollment of like 280 students last year. They finally got a football team. They were all excited because it boosted their enrollment by such a large percentage....basically by adding the team. I saw the team practicing as I drove out......I am going to go out on a limb here and risk being called a racist....the default charge when someone doesn't like hearing the truth...But the team looked like it came straight from "the hood". Not surprising when you understand they over 70% of the NFL are African American....but I have to ask......ARE ANY OF THEM PAYING TUITION????? If not, how the heck does that probable group of mental defectives actually help the school? By the way....I suggest they are mental defectives on a very firm basis....I point to Thomas Sowells recent article which states that the average African American college student has an 8th grade level of education....I am thinking football players would be less!

is anyone surprised to learn that schools supposedly of higher learning are referring to the reefer using students. they abound in Colorado, washington, Oregon and California legally and throughout the rest of the country soon to be legally high. the dumbing down of America is in full swing at all levels of what is supposed to be education.
