I am sorry to hear that David Mamet's latest play is closing. Gulch dwellers may find his semi-autobiographical book, "The Secret Knowledge" of interest. Mamet describes his conversion from non-questioning follower of liberal orthodoxy to now-I-think-for-myself conservative. Much of his new-found belief seems to me just plain old pragmatism. Well, okay, nothing with Mamet can be described as "plain." Keep a dictionary handy. I have read this skewering of liberal insanity twice. It also served as my introduction to the economist, Hayak. Mamet did meticulous research, so the essays contained in this tome are far more than opinion pieces. Would love to hear feedback on others' reactions to it.

- 1Posted by khalling 13 years, 3 months agoI would like to comment on this, but I am trigger-shy at buying the book. in the early 80's I was a student and worked with Mamet at a university. He was brought in to the Writer's Workshop but worked with us in the theater dept. straight up liberal. In fairness, I was as well. But I was alot younger than he at the time and hadn't yet been exposed to Rand. College will expose one to EVERYTHING except Rand. that is the sorry fact. tell me it's worth the dimes| Mark as read | Best of... | Permalink
- 1Posted by fivedollargold 13 years, 3 months agoI bought the hardback edition first and then the book on Kindle. I'm a cheapskate, so that gives you an idea how much I like it. Mamet tells a story in the book about giving a guest lecture at a college and refusing to follow the liberal concept of political correctness.
