I found this book on Amazon. Downloaded it to my Kindle. I want to thank Joan personally for a fantastic book, a real peek what the team and all you went through bringing this epic to the silver screen (especially the hard parts- then again, nothing historically wonderful was never easy, eh?). Answers a lot of burning questions, and put a HUGE smile on my face to see some of the answers. THANK YOU, Joan, for making this book available!!

Interesting history. Corrected several misconceptions I held. Also a few pretty good pix. As I recall it only ran about 65 kindle pags andtok less than half an hour to read. The download is $4.99.

Well it is her experience and that of her husband. Why the need to invalidate the story?
I appreciated the inclusion of the screenplays.

Some people, eh KH? I guess it's one of those "see how much I know" kinda people; that, or they post to be snippy. I note they are not a producer; that says a lot in itself...

As if we didn't know the players behind the scenes... Yeesh!

He doesn 't care for the movies. I thought she was pretty straight forward with her analysis. She was honest about the numbers. She was optimistic about bringing people to Ayn Rand and in my view could have said more about that. The movies have definitely influenced the site traffic to both ARI and TAS. Alot of it through here I have no doubt. Why come to this site if you do not support the movies?

IMO, KH, it's a typical hater attitude, kinda like when I mentioned to my communist acquaintance "Who is John Galt?" and erupted into quite the tirade. Joan answered, in the book, the one question I've always had - why 3 different casts? Now, it makes perfect business sense. Calling her book about her and John's experience non-objective is like, he'll, I dunno, telling Henry Ford how to design cars, or Andrew Carnegie how to run a steel mill (and start libraries!)

            Have an awesome morning!!!

Maybe you ought to research that a bit before you make such a bold statement. From the ABC to the NRS and DIRECT involvement in the T (and the industrial espionage that begat the "new era" A in 1928) he had his hand in FFMC until he died in the 40's. Which is why they jumped from a 4 banger to a V8, only doing a 6 cylinder motor after he died.

I will gladly debate this off the board. This is something I've been researching since about 1971. He may not have invented the auto (that honor goes to one cat named Cugnot) but his ideas spawned parts of, to this day, we use for transportation. From the automatic planetary to the cast-en-bloc motor that was engenieer-feasable to using the proper material for the proper part... and engineering it if it wasn't available - to using a production line assembly technique for autos (frigging revolutionary).

Excuse me? You would shun the voice of someone who has first hand knowkedge and say it's nonsense?

Ya know... YOU are proof that Ayn Rand was spot on . You fit the sheeple anti-objective to a T. Keep it up - I love to watch people make absolute fools of themselves. Especially sticking out like a sore thumb.

You rock on, young and dumb.

Your point being... What? That you know who Joan is, and who she's married to? So do we. That it's an insider book? That goes without saying. How does someone talking about something they know intimately - since they were on the inside- fail the objectivity test? Especially since she brings up her marriage to JD a few times in the book? Being the wife of the EP, and having lived through the entire process 3 times now, ya think she just might qualify as an expert on this subject??? Hmmm???
If you're trying to be disparaging or a know-it-all, well, to this crowd on this particular subject, it just don't play. Sorry.

You are exhibiting a general unknowledgable attitude on the subject matter, yet espouse as if you are an expert.

Why I'm even wasting my time to reply is beyond me... You're comments about how someone who is a producer of a movie cannot write about their experience is EXACTLY why I cannot abide fools or non-objectivists.

And you have gotten far more than you deserve. Good bye.
