If you never lie you don't have to remember your falsehoods and end up looking like such an idiot. Of course they depend upon the short attention span of the average low information voters. From the recent polls it looks like some are awakening from their pipe dreams.

This is exactly how most federal programs get instituted. It has worked for so long that they thought they could slide one more in. I'm still surprised it didn't work but equally thankful.

The tax credits are indeed temporary and as you described, Mimi. It reminds me of the "deal" that Clinton passed to get 100,000 cops on the streets that became the responsibilities of the municipalities after the first year.

It’s my understanding the tax credits are just temporary. That even with the Federal government paying for them, the states were going to have to pick up the tap for any subsidy in a couple years. That was the reason many of the 36 states didn’t set up their own exchanges, right? And.. didn’t some states exempt themselves from that obligation in the bill, like Nevada? I may be wrong, but there definitely was a certain amount of uneven handling of states responsibility for implementation written into the bill.
Everything that is seriously wrong with this bill won’t come to fruition till after the 2016 election.

I ran a gold wire manufacturing department out of a plant in Inman till 1988. Last I heard the plant was owned by Phelps Dodge. I wonder if it's still there?

They specifically wrote it in the law. They never dreamed that so many states would not knuckle under to them. The court should rule that only Congress can "fix" it. If we can elect a congress with some brains and some "balls," who knows.

This was well discussed beforehand. The Dem's thought they were so cute putting this in the way they did to "force" those Rep Gov's to institute their own exchanges - no way they would stand up and face the wrath of their state citizens by denying them their subsidy. If the populace had known just how expensive it was going to be, they may have been right.

It's been a long time since I went to Spartanburg, but that's the gateway to some pretty country.

I remember when Obamacare's architect proudly discussed the statement on state exchanges. He's caving now under political pressure.

I wish I had known that you live there, $5Au. I might have stopped and had a meal with you during my vacation last week.
