If everyone on the planet was forced to make the exact same amount of money would that satisfy the progressive minded, or would they demand more?

Minimum wage only makes sense if there is a 'minimum productivity standard' to apply to the workers.

Utterly joyous! You don't have to agree with the politics to see there's a ton of good fun and joy in living here!:) I particularly loved the reference to the tea party as "cheeky". Folks, the lesson for us all is not to always smash out with our political or economic positions. Let us never neglect the good on the other side!!!

Perhaps Mary should examine why $7.25 is not a living wage. I would suggest that the areas where the protest is the loudest is always the same old places, NY, LA, Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, DC, etc. do we see a pattern here? Could it be that the unions have driven the wages up so high that $7.25 is not enough to live on? It is all about purchasing power and not the amount of dollars that one earns. These higher wages without higher output are not sustainable. The foreign competition that we have is not caused by their cheaper wages but by our controlling unions and with their work rules. A repeal of minimum wages would be the best thing for all workers. Jobs are only sustainable if the jobs are profitable for the employer.

Someday, this song and this movie will be regarded as subversive.

    (a gas-gulping motorcar as a *hero*???)

    "Pride in our ownership..."
    BLASPHEMY!
    Delicious blasphemy...

I would pay real money for a modern car that looked as beautiful as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang...

You know, nowadays, Truly Scrumptious would be considered a stalker after singing "Lovely Lonely Man"... how the world has gotten so screwed up... sigh.

    Vomitous.

How can people be so simple-minded?

Why do people see avarice in company profits, yet don't see avarice in people seeking to be guaranteed payment regardless of performance?

If Poppins is getting minimum wage, she must not have the skillset to command a higher wage; there must not be a demand for her services, or, there must be a lot of prudish, effete spinsters out there looking for work...
