This is some pretty fun reading here. It is an except from Piper's new book "Book Was There: Reading in Electronic Times."

Looks like I'm goingto have to get this one to add to my collection of books about books.

    Thanks bigjim,
    Good article.
Give me a real book every time. I am proud to display all I have read. My library needs no batteries, my books no recharging. Let me turn the page every other page, and feel the paper. Old school stubbornness I guess... Que sera sera…
    Regards,
    O.A.

I have had this discussion with my eReader friends. I keep telling them, "...But I love turning actual pages and holding a chunky book in my hands and my favorite is putting in the bookmark, when I'm done reading for the night, closing the book and then turning it to look at the top edge to see how far my bookmark has moved. For some reason I love doing that." They just keep saying how their device is easier to hold, and the screen lights up...bla bla bla.

Thanks for posting this. I do have a tablet, but it goes against my grain. I MUCH prefer to peruse the shelves of our local book store, and come out with "real "books. I love their heft, smell, and yes, their tactile-ness that is glaringly lacking in my iPad.

Agreed, Nma. I love the feel, the smell and everything else too. I love walking into a used bookstore and there's nothing better than a good used book sale!
