Never flying again seems extreme. There is a certain cost to climate change. There is a certain percentage of climate change caused by greenhouse gasses. We can use those numbers to estimate roughly the actual cost to other people of emissions. Then we can work out if the activity is worthwhile. If we can spend that money to do things that offset emissions, like building solar / wind power plants in regions where they get a lot of sun/wind and the activity is still viable, there's no reason not to do them. We need a marketplace of buyers and sellers to work out if a transaction is worthwhile. I completely reject hard limits on emissions.

At my church they had people offering petitions against cap-and-trade b/c they want hard limits. They say no matter how much economic value you're creating, there should be hard limits on emissions. I didn't sign that. We absolutely need a market for things we do that generate positive/negative externalities.

I'm completely against such hard rules.
