They are Not security cameras. They are "surveillance " cameras.

I lived outside London in the early 70's. Interacting with the Brits brought me to the conclusion that our use of the English language was the extent of our commonality. Even that commonality was a stretch. The Irish were another subject entirely. The Irish knew how to party.

I thought that my S-I-L was joking, but then hearing the same thing from someone he doesn't know, just makes me not understand. I mean, we speak the same language (sort of), but there's something there that is totally out of sync on another level.

What's scary is how the DHS is pushing the See Something Say Something, and that taking pictures is a potential terrorist act of planning a mass casualty attack... I just think its taken hold over there faster.

Its no doubt that if the dotgov had their way, we would be snitching off our parents for extended blogging on sites like this, turning in coworkers for off color jokes, accusing one another of Racism and Antisocialism, or being phoned in to the local Fusion center about making a joke about Dear Leader (there's one right there). BTW - if you talk about Fusion Centers, you get targeted by word mining programs, as we civilians shouldn't know that such things exist...

It's not a pretty future, this brave, new world...

Taking pictures of security cameras pointing at other security cameras is illegal?

Seems more absurd than questionable to me, but even after having lived with Brits, it still doesn't mean I understand them...

Or they're being watched. London Underground station, don't remember where, I took a picture of one CCTV camera aimed at another CCTV camera. Joked to my (British) son-in-law about that, like the one camera must be a suspect or something... he told me to "get rid of that picture" as taking photos of security cameras in Tube stations is apparently a pretty serious crime over there, and if I got caught with the photo I would be in "serious trouble" with the authorities... Commented to another friend from over there, she (terrified) said exactly the same thing.

While I love Britain, hearing this made me eternally grateful I live here, not there...

I would put it over the camera lens myself, though frighteningly often, one can't see the camera.

And, as mentioned, they are often too high to reach.

Two thumbs up and a sign of the dollar from here! THAT's where we need to see the Post-It notes. I am trying to create something a bit larger and more permanent, but I'm not a graphic designer. Believe I mentioned that I think a stencil would be wonderful. For use only on government and "public" buildings, mind. After all, we helped pay for them and in theory, at least, in some part they belong to us.
