This is a great example of the quality of management, leadership and project skills colleges have produced in the last 10-20 years. Spend 4 or 5 billion and shut it down to save 7 billion. A huge waste that was mismanaged from the getgo, and yet it's like "ho hum". These were the things Ayn Rand was saying we would see as government screwed things up more and more....

Westinghouse Electric, one of my former employers, is now bankrupt, and bought out by Toshiba. It is partly bankrupt because of this nuclear energy plant and its sister plant in Waynesboro, GA.

When you are building things over long stretches and you know the standards, it is hard to imagine you screw it up that bad. I know the reactor designs were part of it, I think I posted an article a while back about the connection of all these players, but it has to stop at some point and all these "leaders" get accountable for whatever malfeasance happened.
