Actually, what happened was that many Democratic voters just stayed home. Trump didn't win because of higher voter turnout among Republicans - any higher turnout was to vote for other candidates!

All the Republicans need to do is peel off a few Democrat voters to be successful, as they were in 2016.

I hate to say this, but there's no fixing stupid. Democrat voters blindly and automatically accept any excuse their candidates give for ridiculous positions they take. That explains Maxine Waters, as one example.

Voting "present" on repeal of the individual mandate would still cause many Democrats grief, as they try to explain why they didn't vote to end this unpopular tax. It would also cost them some support from young voters who are the chief victims of this scam. Their Republican opponents could score major points against the Democrats on this issue.

No, they would only vote "present," as they did when Senator Lankford put a single payer amendment up for a roll call vote. Those clowns can out-weasel a weasel.

Before they try it again, Trump needs to remove the government workers "subsidy" for Obamacare. Only then will we get an honest effort to put a stake in the heart of the government's effort to take control of our medical care.

I wouldn't have liked it if Obamacare-Lite had passed anyway, so the RINO's didn't really mess anything up. (McCain was just posturing to achieve "statesman" status by thwarting Republicans efforts, once again pleasing his masters in the mainstream press.) That bill wouldn't have survived conference committee with the House anyway. Too many Conservative votes would be lost because the bill is too weak. The best thing to do now is to just watch Obamacare implode and not do anything to save it.

Only three of them voted against the "skinny" Obamacare repeal, which would have repealed the individual and employer "mandates". The Democrats all voted against it. If not for additional anti-abortion language in the bill, both the Democrats and the RINOs would have had trouble explaining their "no" votes to constituents, and a few Democrats might actually have voted "yes".

With no support from Democrats, the best hope is to separately put each feature of Obamacare up for a roll-call vote in the Senate. This will fprce the Democrats and the RINOs to publicly cast their votes on Obamacare's most unpopular features, and be prepared to explain to their constituents why they voted the way they did.
