What happened to Trump's reducing regulatory intereference?! I have invested in "the sign of the dollar" (i.e. Altria tobacco stock), and this decision tanked my stock value 10% today!
!*$%^#&! (instead of an expletive)

Trump is too busy protecting his name, his family, and his business from statists in both major parties and those in the courts who owe their positions to the state. I suspect that is the plan to stymie any significant move toward freedom.

I would not be surprised if the industry asked for this because they were losing to e-cigs. E-cigs are safer, but the industry argues if you buy them from non-reputable companies, i.e. not from big companies like MO, they can be dangerous.

The regulation may be intended to create barriers for e-cig startups while making it look like a general public health measure.

MO has a history of acting like the gov't is twisting their arm, while they're actually working the system in their favor. I have more faith in the ability of MO to serve their customers in spite of gov't interference than most companies. They've been the government's whipping boy for a long time and are still going strong.

Maybe we should get it over with and let FDA have approval power on all foods and drugs, as well as all medical devices and medical services. While we are at it, let them license doctors and anyone who claims to affect a person's health. Maybe that would satisfy the leftists.

As Spider Robinson and just about nobody else has correctly pointed out, the safest cigarette possible would have as much nicotine as possible, even to adding it artificially.

The reason is that addicted people smoke, each time they do, only until the nicotine in their bloodstream reaches their accustomed level. Then they stub it out and go back to work.

Curse you sir, for causing my sympathies toward you while at the same time being totally unsympathetic. I think you have caused gastro-intestinal distress.

YUP! reduce the drug in ciggs while increasing the THC in pot. Pretty soon they will be selling high taxed ciggs and joints based on how much of the nicotine and THC is in them. Hi, I would like a pack of Regular, Mid Grade or High test. Has anyone noticed? You can grow your own marijuana in some states but don't try growing your own tobacco.
