This has got to be the dumbest idea ever!...can you say: Carrington Event?..with our shields down 25% Captain, said Scotty...we are vulnerable to another event like that; not to mention a certain uoon from Nk or an idiot that "neverdidajob" in never never [I]ran, an EMP event at this time would shut down the world grid for years.

Whatcha gona do when the lights go out... bunkie?

Many Gulchers like the digital idea...I on the other hand, observe that just maybe this is not the time to do such a thing in total. Not until we have some technological guarantees that the grid and digital infrastructures are properly fortified.

Creating such a Crony Capitalist, "cashless" society accomplishes a number of things for the International cabal and their enablers. First it will capture the underground economy (which may not be necessarily a bad thing per se), second it will secure forever the total control of the central bankers (the government doesn't care because it is the beneficiary of the unlimited ability to "borrow" and not to necessarily need to tax other than the inflation that would take place. Therefore, they would have complete ability to; make war, print money without backing, and with Obamacare, have total control over the people,

Life would be good (for them).....lastly, once the economies of the world are fully under this iron fist of control, the Fiat money will flow like water and control will be complete.

Freedom will be gone! VISA and the rest are fully ok with this scenario. Besides, the card will go away in a couple of years anyway to be replaced by an implant. 1984 and the Brave New World are here! Get used to it!

    For what its worth

Holding your currency in any banking institution always puts you at risk. The greatest risk is that America is working with a fiat currency which allows you to be robbed by the Federal Reserve anytime they wish no matter where you store the currency.
Electronic currency tracking and spending is efficient and easy to maintain, but if the currency represents nothing of value then a failure of the government, fiat bank or a reorganization can pilfer any one at any time. A Carrington Event would not be a threat if there was something physical of value and you had more than one record to prove your ownership. Fires destroy paper, counterfeit destroys ownership, failure of computers can destroy ownership and governments can demand that 25% of whatever you have in the bank is now theirs (as happened in Greece) and you will have no recourse. Owning anything has always made owners subject to theft, deception, fraud and any numerous ways thieves can invent to get the thing of value. The most dangerous and heavily armed thieves in the world are governments and people join them in their efforts when promises are made to 'help' the downtrodden and provide for their upkeep. I don't think it will ever end. The contest is always to find ways to protect your property from those who would steal from you no matter who they are.

There is a convenience food store whose personnel trust me so well that for about 25 years I can park by the gas pump, wave until I'm seen and they will turn it on so I can fill up. I pay at the counter after after getting my favorite chewing gum and/or beer and whatever.
Lately off and on, their computer goes down. At first they were hanging signs on the gas pumps and locking the door.
Then the problem became so losing money repetitively frequent that they began to do business with a pocket calculator, a notebook and a sign that said "CASH ONLY!"
I'm going to ask if that computer problem has been solved because the last time I did business there I used my debit card without any problem.
Anyway, this store's "the computer is down" (y'all heard that one before?) problem is a small scale example why a cashless nation and especially an entire cashless planet can only court catastrophe.
Bzzt! "I'm sorry but the computer is down."
Me dino now imagines food riots that makes all the riots the world has seen during the last 50 years combined look like so much next to nada.

I know people who never carry cash, even when travelling. Last week a cashier heard my American accent and said, "so you'll be paying by credit," and then seemed confused when I pulled out local currency. She assumed no one travelling gets local currency.

Credit cards have the advantage of giving you a good exchange, just as ATMs do, and you don't get stuck with left-over currencies if you just use credit cards. They are nice for merchants in that they do not need to keep cash for making change.

I still prefer cash. I like starting an trip or event with a little pile of cash and I visually see it going down. I have been taking fussy kids through the store and swiped my card having no idea the amount. It could have been a million dollars. So if they scanned a box of diapers twice, I'd never know it. But I would notice with cash. I was also amazed at how a large dealership reduced the price on the car I bought immediately when I pulled out cash. I thought they'd be too big to car about what seems like almost a stunt, but they really responded. They know they can get paid immediately with zero chance of a the check bouncing or other banking problem.

I hope cash doesn't go away, but I sense it's on its way out. One little thing I do to support is use dollar coins instead of dollar bills. Coins last much longer than bills, so they cost the mint less to maintain.

Cash is freedom and as you say...it makes you aware of your spending.
Also, when the lights go out, you won't have to worry about proving you actually had money in the bank because everything on the magnetic hard drives and storage media has been wiped out by an EMP.
PS...store your most precious digital information on optical disks...they will likely last forever.

You said it, the reason they want to go cashless is so that they can track and tax everything "properly". Cash is freedom and autonomy, they want to take individual liberty away from all.

Yep, that is the consequence for us as I see it as they go digital to save their own butts...central banking and governments.
I am sure though, Visa is just looking at their bottom line. But, that is the line many cross to succeed and in the process harm the end users of their product and services.
There are ways to succeed without harming the consumers but they are too blind to see that and it will likely bite them in the butt.

Yep, I had to quit all fortune 500 and government jobs because I always found that at some point they were screwing the little guy and the little guy was unaware. There are ways to be fair, true, with morals and ethics. I am not one to lose my morals and ethics and relieve myself of my conscience just to make a buck so I am not welcome among the leaders of the machine.

I degreed in Economics and business but found that the only jobs in my day were Ins. co's or government...so I use those skills for economies of movements in Mfg and my own business.

Sounds just like what I'm thinking about right now. I have a degree in mathematics and I am simply considering private tutoring only. I am not looking to make a bunch of money anymore, been there done that. My only concern is dealing with people, but it is never a problem when you provide a superior product at below market prices. I am very interested in Economics but have never gone to school for it so I'm self taught. Taking free courses at Hillsdale online right now.

PS...I have an interesting one for your math skills...it's probably easy, but most of my time is spent on my next book.
Astrophysics, natural cycles and quantum physics is a side interest of mine. I discovered that earths orbit cycles between an elips to almost a circle every 90K. Recently I pondered the Mayan calendar at 360 days a year, opposed to our present day 365.5.
Seems to me that both are correct depending upon our orbit cycle at the time measured. At present we are not quite at max elips but no clue whether we are headed to max or coming back from max elips...anyway, to prove my point we need to know our distance from the sun at dec 21 (closest) and distance at jun 21, (farthest); that info is easily gotten. Calculate distance traveled and divide 365.5 should equal speed. (or,. probable our speed is known, cal. per day, then mult'ing by 365.5
If speed doesn't change and in a circular orbit, stands to reason the distance traveled would be shorter...hence: 360 day years...maybe? (I would think that our shortest distance from the sun would pretty much give us our circular orbit) I did read though, that it isn't quite a perfect circle but all we need to prove is the distance traveled per year would be shorter...that seems to make sense to me.

                    What do you think?

This from Wikipedia says: In 1989, Jacques Laskar's work indicated that the Earth's orbit (as well as the orbits of all the inner planets) can become chaotic and that an error as small as 15 meters in measuring the initial position of the Earth today would make it impossible to predict where the Earth would be in its orbit in just over 100 million years' time.[17] Modeling the Solar System is subject to the n-body problem.

That said, my final studies and continuing studies are in the field of chaos mathematics. I had to put it down for a while to research history, but now I am ready to get back into it again after my move. Is that a coincidence? I don't believe in those and I don't think anything is random. When someone says to me, this is random so I have no idea, I think in my head well, you are just not trying hard enough. Maybe I am just to hard on myself and others.

No your not to hard on others...things are rarely if ever, random, unless some other action or force is involved.
I think we have the tools to measure distance from the sun accurately, however, do we measure it from surface to surface? If so, lamestream science does not believe the sun has a surface but it has to have a surface for particles to be ejected which most certainly are ejected all the time.

Now this reminded me about a thought that I had 4 years ago about trying to determine the effects of the gravitational forces of large celestial objects on the human brain. I have thought about it many times since, but that thought occurred to me after spending some time with "spiritual" people and getting a much better handle on what astrology had to say about me. Supposedly I was born in the cusp of energy which makes sense to me because I can not shut down, I need help to do that. Some of the things that I read even from ancient Chinese manuals really struck me and made me wonder if the gravitational force from the large objects near us (maybe even the entire universe) affect the brain according to the time, date and year at which someone is born. If they do then that could prove that astrology should be considered a science and maybe human nature can be predicted using that understanding.

Since the human brain resembles the universe: https://io9.gizmodo.com/5928608/which...
and the atomic structure resembles our solar system, then maybe there is something to be discovered here. This is fractal geometry and I really loved that part of chaos theory.

I am just sharing here and sorry if I am wasting your time. Thank you for posing this question to me to get me thinking about all these things again.

                          Thanks for sharing.
I will tell you that the gravitational model is on it's way out and the Electric Universe theory is gaining favor. It has been noted that the EUT is much more accurate, needing no exceptions to it's premise.
Gravity is a weak force, like our government was supposed to be...governing best that which it governs close.
Electromagnetism is the main force in existence...without it, existence could not exist.
And Yes!...electromagnetic events do play havoc with the human brain...especially to the unaware, (non conscious)
Consciousness and the Mind, (not in your head) is my specialty...the implications of which are discussed in my first book. (my first attempt at doing so...I am a much better writer now, not to mention, have continued my research)

Check out the Thunderbolts project, Electric Universe Theory.

Thank you, I will. I was going to move past gravity and talk about electromagnetic force effects, but most people lose me at that point. I worked for a public utility for 8 years in bulk power management and trading because electricity does interest me. So does economics.

                      pi x pi x 100 x 100 is 98,696
pi to the power of 10 is 93,648
I have been trying to use powers of pi rather than multiples of pi lately to get more exact answers, but I have had no success yet so please disregard everything about this except for the fact that nature likes to oscillate in cycles of pi. pi, 2 x pi, 3 x pi.....100 x pi .......etc

One last thing for now, my intuition says that not only would we be on a slightly smaller path in the more circular orbit, but we would also move just a little faster on average than the average speed around the larger ellipse. That is just hypothesis at this point.

I did wonder if we would move faster in a closer circular orbit...that would make a Year even less than 360 days.
I do suspect that the number of days in a year constantly changes slowly. Since the Mayan Civilization was after the flood and maybe 6 to 8K years ago, It would not be unreasonable to only gain 5 days a year since. Varying 10 days in a year through a 90K cycle would not be out of the question. However, the last time we had a near circular orbit was well before the flood which rightfully should be around 12-13K years ago if we consider the procession of the equinox.

If our near circular orbit was a circle with radius equal to the semiminor axis of the ellipse (semiminor axis being the point at which we are closest to the sun, 12/21) that we normally travel in then the circumference of the circle would be smaller and it is possible for that change to go unnoticed for some time as it is very gradual, however, I would expect that with the tools of today someone surely knows if our ellipse is becoming more circular or more elliptical. If no one thought about looking or checking then perhaps not. If what you say is true, that the cyclical nature of the orbit varies around 90000 years then I would start looking for multiples of pi for an exact answer because pi is critically important in nature, human nature, any natural system which math is an attempt at understanding and not the other way around in my opinion. We created math to understand what is around us, what would the creator of all these laws call it? We will never know. But I know that pi is a very special number. This is an interesting question.

For some reason we don't learn about many cycles, not to mention our orbital cycle.

I have a theory about why our orbit changes, including the other planets. It was said most recently that we are positioned above the galactic plain at this time and it seems we venture, in our procession around the milkyway, above and below this plain...so...wouldn't that change in direction in our suns travel at 433K MPH cause the planets to lag behind a bit and to catch up at sometime when our travel is straight?..Then, perhaps, when the suns direction changes again, lag behind a bit in the opposite elips...making earth farthest in orbit on 12/21 and closer on 6/21?
Demonstrating this in a video would be amazing.

It is really hard to imagine, but what you say is possible and probably not something anyone can predict. I am now thinking that if your farthest orbit switched from 6/21 to 12/21 and if this galactic plane which we can be above or below has any electrical properties to it, I wonder if that might determine when the north pole becomes the south pole and vise versa. They know the poles have switched before many thousands of years in the past, but don't know why.

I do think that we get into a position cyclically from time to time where we might experience an electromagnetic connection that influences cycles in our solar system.
The problem in predictability is we haven't been taking measurements for long enough, in this respect, we really need to examine what the ancients knew and give it serious consideration.

From what I understand thus far, magnetic reversals used to be every 250K then stopped. (info gotten from the Society of Cycles, established in the 1930's) Haven't had an actual reversal in 780K years...what they tout as a reversal might be the results of extreme wandering, which is exactly what is happening today. Our N. mag. pole has been rapidly moving toward Siberia and the S. mag. pole has moved up toward Australia. It is said that if this trend continues they will meet in the Indian Ocean near an anomaly we have been monitoring for years. Some think we will have a reversal but I am as yet to be convinced.

http://suspicious0bservers.org (observers with a zero) and adapt 2030 on youtube are excellent resources for understanding what is happening on a daily/weekly basis.

An interesting side note: One wonders if the system is AC or DC. If we are AC and we have a reversal... we should then begin to rotate in the opposite direction. [have you ever heard the 3 days of darkness/3days of light...then the sun rising in the west, statement from the ancients?]...makes one what to go...hmmmm

Actually, records retention says only 50 years however with that being said, orthoginal storage (using quartz crystal or doped crystal technology) will last millions of years and is capable of storing petabytes of data.

Optical disks are not that durable. If you're really worried about EMP I suggest joining a cloud service on the far side of the world -- and encrypting everything before you store it there.

Their server or storage device needs to be non magnetic or protected in a Faraday setup...magnetic hard drives and sticks will be wiped out/ anything magnetic. A natural EMP has a good chance to effect the entire world through the poles...a humanoid made EMP will likely be regional.
Optical is our best shot...short of writing in stone. Assuming we have a few machines left to play them...I'd stick one in a metal garbage can just in case.

It's also difficult to deal with, the primary reason grocery stores are happy to hand out cash-back for free from your ATM card is so they don't have to deal with as much of it (cash). Cash requires armored trucks, armored rooms on-site (no safe is large enough for a box store), counting it, errors in making change for it, etc.

The bank will charge you a $3.00 ATM fee, everyone else will let you buy a pack of gum for 50 cents and give you as much as you want.

They do that in most other countries, and it just makes sense... We keep issuing paper dollars, and then issue cutesy commemorative coins almost the EXACT size of quarters, and expect people not to be confused. (I still get SBA's as quarters in change). In the EU and Britain they use a center of one color (brass or silver) and a rim of the opposite color for their €1 and €2 (or £1 or £2) and it works fine.

My guess is the dotgov, so hooked on their fake money inflationary scheme, is worried that the (tarnished) brass they use for the current brassbucks will be worth more than the coin they represent. When you have non-fiat coinage worth 20 to 25x its face value... yeah.

Amen to that. Not serrating the edge of new $1 coins isn't nearly enough to be able to feel the difference.

If they're not going to go back to making them the size of the Ike dollar, at least make them square or something so they're obviously different.

13 sides, and 4x as thick... maybe made of a different alloy (like the Brits do with the pound, IIRC) so it LOOKS different - maybe something like... Oooh... this is perfect... wait for it...

          REARDEN METAL??

Light, strong, non rusting, non corroding, greenish tinged steel/copper/?? alloy, a blatant statement of value in a valueless society... I suspect, however, the mint (that believes in the power of Fiat, and we ain't talkin' cool italian cars) would NEVER go for such an obvious tip of the hat to Rand,

There is also the whole "would Hank approve of this use of HIS creation? Likely not... but it would STILL be cool...

When you get a roll of dollars you get some of the old Susan B Anthony dollars that look quarters, some copper-colored Sacajaweas, and some copper-colored presidential dollars.

They passed a law saying they'd produce a certain ratio of presidential to Sacajawea. Combined with some other policy that resulted in a their making way more dollar coins than people wanted, and they piled up in a huge building. They changed the law half way through the presidents. After that they only offered presidential coins to collectors. You can find some of them in circulation though.

I think it's unfortunate they stopped it because my kids learned the first half of the presidents while collecting the coins, without even trying. They recognize their face and roughly when were president. They did the same thing with the state quarters and national park quarters. They really caused them to learn the states, where they are, and what state icons appear on the coins.

I have to at this point. There is nothing left to say and nothing left unsaid that I should continue trying to say because I can't anymore. I love to put myself in a tight spot just to challenge me. I don't know anything more than your average lieutenant would coming out of any branch. The only difference between me and them is that I already knew to learn everything beyond what I needed to know and their rules on a need to know basis are lacking. That is the only difference right now.

Try checking into a hotel with cash. Good luck. They want some sort of credit card in order to check in. You can settle the bill later with cash however.

Doesn't need the cash but might provide a service that usually does...saw her viral video on facebook many a year ago...come to think of it, she's been out of the news cycle for a long time now.

No collusion's with Russia I bet...

lol, like you said, she has been out of the news for a while so I'm not sure about her collusion's with Russia. Maybe she should be appointed to a position by Trump and then there are sure to be collusions.

Now we understand the Kakistocracy: governance by the worst [and] least qualified in society.

(I replaced the or with [and], in the definition...it just speaks more observational truth).

I wish I could have fun with it, but after what I have seen it is so enraging to me that I have to have 12 shots and sit here and write you today. My fun has been ruined, but that is my fault because I am supposed to control my emotions. I want to tag you on some other posts I just made, but I don't know how and I'm too old and intoxicated to figure it out.

Hmmm, never tried that here at the gulch...you might just post the link here in response to this post, or just post the title of that post.

The Kakistocracy is disturbing but it helps to have a word for it and it's become my favorite word; finding truths and new exciting questions help too.
Just think...all the worlds perversions, criminality, and it's ills...in one felt swoop, one concept all taking up less mental ram with the rest of one's mental resources on those exciting questions.

I say this, abet, baring the cross of awakening humanity, in my own small way, all because it is true, with or without our language being confounded...Nothing be impossible unto us.

No, I suck too much to try that because I already deleted my messages pertaining to that and I can't remember any of the titles, so I will drink instead of look.

Might be time for some coffee or even better...get some sleep and awaken to a brand new day in your life...your starting a new journey, the outcome of which is completely up to you.
                          I think...how cool is that!

IT is not like I haven't been here before. Ground hog day only I only get it for a couple days. I am not allowed to revel in it nor am I allowed to learn from it. The fleeting aspect is all I can remember.

Nah, I am passed the knee of the curve, there is no turning back now. I love this phase even though I am only semi conscious, I can get some of the best leads from here. It is strange, I have experimented enough in this lifetime, yet I still resort to excess in order to express myself properly. Maybe it is a defect in my character or an abnormality, but I can not be completely true without being extremely messed up. I figure that is what the government instilled in me by giving me shots unquestioned and then entrusting me to not tell the enemy if I was captured. Just trying to connect the dots here, that is all.

There's a larger long term objective for this action and Its been coming for quite some time.

Completely digitizing money and doing away with tangible currency makes for thorough micromanagement and is a firm step to dictating your life. I used this as a foundational basis for the society I constructed in Shadows Live Under Seashells and touched on in Fallacies of Vision. Once in place other can determine a great many things in the way you live your life or they could even choose to shut off the spigot (freeze your accounts) until you comply to how they believe you should live.

Any given time I probably have a couple hundred Euro and Rubles, and a hundred or so Pounds and Francs in my wallet... when you travel a lot, it just becomes habit, even if it's something as simple as grabbing a Panini and café or an ale between flights, you find even in a cosmopolitan airport like Fiumicino or Heathrow they look at our green currency, shrug, and say "Sorry"...

At least it's better than when I was young, and you had to have a handful of French francs, Deutschmarks, Lire, etc... I still have my old travel wallet, and it was a major PITA...

Cards? The first time you forget to make a travel notification, or the CC co puts th e wrong dates on them, you realize just how fragile THAT system is.

The whole devalued fiat money thing came up in recent conversation - I was talking about my next car (Likely an E43 Mercedes) and someone questioned why I would spend upwards of 70 large on a car... I had to explain that when you take inflation into account, it's actually LESS than my first Mercedes cost new (by quite a bit)... and it was nowhere near the car this one is. I just hope that the rumors that the reliability issues have been straightened out are true - the stuff pre-and early-Diamler Chrysler era (on both sides) were fairly atrocious in places....

The desire of visa is going to run up against the desire of politicians to allow unfettered illegal immigration. The illegals all prefer cash. It makes it easier to hide. It would be fun to watch these two run up against each other...if it wasn't obvious that the average middle class citizen will not like any solution that they end up settling on.

They say that the collective elite overlords power is greater than that of the president these days. The gauntlet has been thrown down and Trump is challenging them. That is just how I see every real issue that Trump has to deal with. What is Russia though, I've never heard that word before and I am unfamiliar. In my opinion the cashless society holds precedence over the influx of illegals at this point. You can see how the elites value certain ideas when an issue like this comes up.

Just as Visa would benefit with a cashless society (because they make money not on volume but on number of transactions), you can bet that the Feds are cheering them on - silent or not. It is the goal of the One World Order to eliminate cash because the resulting system is easier to control via currency manipulation and personal monitoring.

From Visa's standpoint, the electronic transfers also provide marketing information they can sell to businesses - another revenue stream. Supermarkets and many other companies also use these "Loyal Customer" cards to track spending and for valuable BI (business intelligence). That largely goes down the drain with cash-only transactions.

"This has got to be the dumbest idea ever!..."

It is!!!! And even more, destructive...........its purpose is control, control of every individual.

Remember Dagny and Jeff when the train stalled.........."money in the pocket turns to confidence in the mind."

The mind is the target...........always has been, always will be the enemy of looters, tyrants, et al
............destruction of the individual by destruction of the [rational] mind..............

That it is, but I feel that there was something important I had to say. It does not matter, because I have said it, and if you were to look on other threads and see my name then you would see it.. Therefore, I have to be at peace with myself and know that I did all that I can. It is what it is and I am what I am. I had no idea that I was in such an important position in my life. I can't even post this, try #4.
