I think Trump's video was brilliant and doubt he spent any time on it at all but assigned it to a staffer. Liberal heads and the main stream media take the sucker bait hook, line and sinker!
Medicaid and all the other entitlement programs are for those who can't work for real reasons but far too many states hand out money to those who simply won't work and make it a lucrative scam. The State slogan for Illinois should be "It pays to be ignorant".

he is on his own road, pretty much alone. He is either a loon or a genius, and I have no idea which as he has yet to defeat the real dragon: The House Republicans and their Senate minions.

Trump has been on his own road ever since he announced his candidacy. He got next to no help from any republican Es and still gets none. These bafoons are about to pull defeat out of the jaws of victory and will never get with the Trump program.

That is what I have seen since he got elected, Ryan has treated him as the village idiot, yet he has done nothing in 6 months, he needs to go, along with all his crony's and the sad sack in the senate.

Right you are Nick. We handed them complete control on a silver platter and they still can't get anything done. Must be real hard to let their big money donors down but not at all hard to blow smoke up our asses. Just pray that those who elected Trump have memories in 2018.

It is almost impossible to not see that Both Parties are in crap up to their neck and the Dumbocraps are in the give away for votes business (financially unsustainable but very Rand like in prophecy) and the Republicrats are feeding their big donors and corporations (again financially unsustainable) which is why we have a 19 Trillion dollar debt. They BOTH need to go. Again only the Convention of States can save us.

Correct but it was re made recently superimposing the CNN face depiction over Vince Mans face. It would not surprise me at all to learn that young Barron played around with Photoshop to reedit the video for his dad. Anything that Trump does to get their panties in a wad is just fine by me. Actually rather entertaining.

Let's not confuse the magnesium with the magnesia. Illinois is a stew simmering for a while, of it's own creation and recipe. Even if Trump steps in, which he doesn't have a right to do unless some sort of assistance requested, what exactly could he offer that both parties would agree? Nothing. Same with California, a broke state, yet the Governor and legislature is hell bent on raising taxes in order to maintain benefits to illegal aliens and other neglected projects.
The tweets. The media is furious at Trump, mainly, because they can't pigeonhole him as they do every other politician. He controls the news cycle with a simple tweet. What most people don't realize is that with most of his tweets, Trump is talking directly to the people that elected him bypassing the media which wants to control the daily narrative. The media generally ignores those. Would I use some of the wording in his tweets? My imagination is not that good to manipulate a restricted number of characters into such an impact. I try, but have not mastered it. When Trump wants to rattle someone's chain, he does it very effectively. While they're running around in circles, including GOP deep state non-Trump supporter that reveal themselves like an air bubble breaking the surface, what happened in the background that he accomplished while he distracted their attention in a different direction?
Also remember the many times in the past that he would say or tweet something that would rattle their cages and after the outrage and dust settles down, we uncover something new and in fact, turns out he was right, again.
Right now, we have a former president halfway around the world talking trash about America, to non-Americans. If not mistaken, that's the first time ever, a president or former president is not in America celebrating Independence Day. The timing of the trip couldn't have been more telling. However, I don't see anyone writing any articles about that today. And they won't, because the narrative has been written by the media handlers to distribute amongst the media faces and mouths so they look and sound unified.
Covfefe, Mika, psycho Joe, WWE video, it's all catnip in a toy hanging from the end of a rope. Or a knockout blonde sitting crossed leg at the opposite end of a pool table distracting your eyes from where the 8 ball is.
So, horrific or catastrophic, if both parties agreed to ask Trump for help in Illinois, their problems would be resolved. He's all business not politics when it comes to resolving issues. That's the easy part. The hard part is them getting over themselves and resolving to work together, take the medicine and ask for assistance.

Well, yes, my point was the President does wield a lot of power, and BHO used to bask in his, (yet he never did a damn thing except hire every minority he could to make a point, vice on competency), but he could have done some backroom work to try to broker a fix. It sounds like this is a Hatfield and McCoy setup, they will let the state burn before either gives in. A good setup to toss them all out and try a third party.

Yes.... And as we know, if he did bailout IL, he'd be sending a clear signal that it's completely OK for each and every other state to spend itself to death with no consequence - and then they would.

Well, I was not speaking of bailout, bailout just encourages more dysfunction, but at some point, if they had the "political power" they profess too, they could have dragged them all in a room and beat them until they had a better solution than what they have now. Although, this may all be the first flake in a huge debt bomb snowstorm to hit, in which case the Fed is screwed.

This line jumped out at me: "Also, without a budget that includes borrowing to pay down the bill backlog, Illinois by August will run out of money for key expenses for the first time since the stalemate ."

They need to borrow money to pay for things they're behind in paying. Isn't that robbing Peter to pay Paul? Isn't that just kicking the can down the road?

Does it solve even one small problem that OBummer's former state is facing?

Yes, and it has become a standard procedure for states. Come up with some crazy program to buy votes, borrow for it (usually with some sob line about children or education) and make someone else pay for it. Worse than credit card debt.

As to "making crazy videos or tweets;" I like it. Besides, I don't think he personally makes the videos. That hairdo identifies without revealing. As long as he stays on the road he is currently traveling, he can tweet until the birds fall from the trees as far as I'm concerned.

Talk to California, furlough in public employees for 20% of their salary and cutting their workday to 4 days a week did the trick here several years ago. They got so used to 3 day weekends, they kind of complained about going back to 5.

Changes to Medicaid under Obamacare is largely responsible for the crushing payments. When people with up to 400% of poverty level income are granted Medicaid (perceived as "free" medical care) we're talking about middle class families with incomes of $60,000 a year. Dropping eligibility back to three times poverty level would definitely help.

The biggest issue facing many states is pensions. Most states recklessly offer fixed percentage outlays with no contribution by their employees. That means the burden of payment falls squarely on the taxpayers. Other problems come from early retirement age (sometimes as low as 50), and crazy pension calculations that sometimes result in retirement income that exceeds the highest employment income.

Now is the time for triage, and letting the states that refuse to face reality sink. While some states' voters will see the light and elect more enlightened political figures, there will be some that collapse to third world state and cry out for the federal government to bail them out. Hopefully the federal government will resist the temptation to play Santa Claus for these wastrels.

Doc, as usual, you are indeed very astute and correct. The PERS issue is going to kill most, if not all states soon, Oregon is on the road and Kalifornia is ahead, and it is because of the Dumbocrap penchant for buying power with our money. That is an issue in Illinois, because Chicago took them to court to try to get some huge sum of money to salvage their PERS, lost and screamed bloody murder. So, they have the kedge anchor of Chicago as well as the rest of the state. Add in 2 parties who have abrogated their responsibility to the people and you have deep doo.

I continue to be impressed with my adopted state of Oklahoma. Working with state employees they've managed to get a handle on the retirement system, creating a funding path that will keep the outlay under control. This is due in part to the genuine common sense that the people here seem to possess in larger than usual amounts. The state workers recognize that the collapse of retirement funding isn't good for them, and consider it nonsense that they should expect to have to take the state to court to get what's owed them.

I find it both very funny and very sad. The pensioners who worked for the pot of gold at the end will get hurt the most if the state goes belly up. That is sad but the funny part is it was and still is the ones already retired and those working toward retirement who elect these idiots and make the outrageous and unsustainable demands. I always say we deserve exactly what we are getting because we continually elect representatives many of whom are incapable of running any kind of business.

From the article, "Tom Yates, one of the lawyers who represented the Medicaid recipients. said the judge’s ruling is a “fair result” that will help them have access to care. “Medicaid is an incredibly important program for 25 percent of the state’s population,” Yates said."

My question: Why is 25% of the state's population dependent on Medicaid? One in four people I see in Illinois is dependent on Medicaid? That seems wrong. Maybe Illinois should not make it so easy to be on Medicaid. 25% on Medicaid +15% employed by government = at least 40% dependent on the government ... not counting a lot of other types of government-dependents.

I think Trump's recent crazy video on Twitter is from 2007 ... right? The crazy part is tweeting it.

Your points are valid, and illustrate the insane thing accepted for "government". They have a Republican governor and a Democratic house and Senate. They cannot agree on anything for 3 years now, and the state is spinning into bankruptcy. Now, take that to the Federal level and ? The inability to govern should indicate to anyone with basic sense that this sytem and the parties in it are inadequate tot he task, and have placed politics and special interests over the health of the state. A mini Venezuela in motion.... I do not think Trump should be engaged in childish barbs when such situations exist in the country, nor did the Obamanation do anything to help correct his own states mess. One reason for a Convention of States...

Trump is all alone on his quest to whatever it is, as he is not a politician. EVERY politician hates him for succeeding in winning the Presidency. He is upsetting the 'old boys network'. They managed to hold off Ross Perot, but Trump broke through.

You have 'em all lumped together in a government is goofy box. Illinois is acting like a Jackass Party Illinois that allows 25% of its of its population to mooch on Medicaid and the New Jersey arrogant ass is an arrogant ass.
Trump is a bit of a loon. I write this the following yet, yet, yet again: I know Trump was a flawed bull in a china shop when I voted for him.
I found The Donald punching CNN (actually an old choreographed stunt with WWE owner Vince McMahon) mildly amusing.
I'm getting used to Trump punching back against the perpetrators of false news.
But I'm far more interested in results that are starting to happen, such as a sharp decrease in illegal border crossings, an economy visibly getting stronger and a VA finally getting straightened out among other things.
I'm well aware everything could suddenly go south but I'm still betting on the loony bull.

I have to disagree with your assessment of Trump being loony! Certainly he is a bit unpolished in political terms which we all should have seen long ago. He is one of very, very few politicians who has ever honestly tried to keep his campaign promises and deliver. Just think for a few minutes what he could and would do if those in the republican party with total majority control would stand with him to make things happen. If you want to see real loons in action then look no further than the republicans in the house and Senate. We expect the jackass party to obstruct everything but the fools in the republican party are squandering our victory.

I called Trump "a bit of a loon" and at the time was thinking of him punching that CNN logo superimposed over Vince McMahon's face.
You can call me a bit of a loon for thinking up such things as Obamanation, O the Great and Powerful Liar-In-Chief, O'Commie, Shillary the Evil Hag, Nutty Nancy, a combined Pocahontas (~Trump/me~) Woo-woo-woo-Warren and other assorted insults.
Yes, it would be wonderfully great for the nation if that flawed bull in a china shop could get some freaking support from all the RINO cowards.
Oops, looking back I see where I also called Trump a loony bull.
Well, he kinda is, but in the same way I can be a loony dino.
I'd vote for the Trumpet again and most likely will. So there.
I may think of something else to call the Commander of Bad Hair Days.

No argument from me, I just am not thrilled with the whole system, or the need for someone to be so off the wall, just to execute the most important job in the country. Maybe that's the problem, it really is not the most important job anymore...

The MSM has been off the wall far left for as long as I can remember. I am loving it every time I see Trump go directly for their throats. I am simply facing the fact that those who get their political information from the alphabet MSM are severely uninformed and the sooner they realize this the better.

Each time he doesn't act like he's "supposed to," lib fake news outfits like MSM starts to

Social Media and Tweeting was not around for many previous Presidents and he should use which ever venue that gets him the most direct line to the folks because otherwise we would just get all the news they (MSM) want us to hear.
