Well, if you can't go Gault, you can go Asgardia..and hang out on earth for a few years or more. But an interesting idea, if just to spur the idea of getting off the rock..

    Well, unfortunately, to have legal rights and representation these days, you have to get UN recognition. Remember Israel? Doesn't mean they would be controlled by it any more than the U.S......

    The article lost my interest when I ran across the phrase "wants to file for UN recognition".

    Well, they do seem to be pervasive in their demands. But this seems to have a set of totally neutral rules. I still need to go read the charter.
