What's in a name? - What is the significance of your Gulch pseudonym?

Some of us, like myself, opt to post under a pseudonym.
However, being Objectivists, for the most part, those pseudonyms in all likelihood mean something specific to the wielder.

So, what's your psuedonym's deeper meaning?

I'll start:

Eudaimonia - (from wiktionary's entry on eudemonia - http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/eudemonia#...) - A person’s state of excellence characterized by objective flourishing across a lifetime, and brought about through the exercise of moral virtue, practical wisdom, and rationality.

Eudaimonia, to me is a state of flourishing as a result of rational self-interest.

I first came across the term in a philosophy class titled "Ethical Individualism".

Eudaimonia, to me, is a goal which can best be summed up with the phrase "the good life".

"The good life", in fact, is my standard drinking toast.

Shrug, it's not a sad thing. It's a happy thing as every time I use it, it honors him and the sacrifice he made many years ago. It keeps his memory alive so long as I live.

Seriously though, if you watched Rand Paul take on the DOE complaining about his toilets, you might say he's a bit wonky. He's got a pair though, no question.

Mine is for the man for whom I am named, my uncle who was KIA aboard a Navy destroyer in WW2. His birthday was close in time to mine, 26 yrs less three days but three years from his death. He was my father's youngest brother. He was 23 when he died.

And that's how I was thinking when I picked it..but it could be taken as a rally cry... 'LET'S SHRUG!' Of course probably only a collectivist would see it that way and be scornful of it's real meaning. (Um...I just realized this sounds familiar.)

I never took your name to be "collectivist" sounding at all.
I took it to be what any Objectivist would say to any other Objectivist, both of whom were living under this current Marxist clownshow.

I would be glad to shrug along side of you, and would not consider either of us "collectivist" for doing so.

I googled your name once...not just for the meaning but also the pronunciation. Good choice!
I think mine is self explanatory lol. However, I have often wished I had chosen "Slug" instead (Francisco's nickname for Dagny.) Not to mention "Let's" sounds a bit collectivist. Oh well...what's done is done. :)
