Dem. Rep. Val Demings to Facebook critic: 'My First Amendment right is different from yours'

Something to think about when weighing Trumps "strangeness". It is not limited to him, or to party, people are frigging weird all over and it always seems to end up on the common people as some restriction, or tax or whatever they want. This woman is a good illustration of the arrogance and privilege these people believe they have, and she was a damn police chief....

How idiots like this get elected is always a mystery to me. Even the useful idiot voters, the ones that obviously elected her, were given more credit by me to understand the concept. Shameful and quite telling on a broader scale.

AJ, I think Freedom is onto it, it was gerrymandered, and people were voting race and sex, just as they vote looks and names, and religions, which is why all the wrong people get elected for all the wrong reasons. Sad proof democracy is a thing requiring careful tending, education, knowledge, and self honesty, lest you be fooled by the likes of this village idiot with boobs...

No different than any other Gimmedat. Senator Feinstein has been a passionate advocate of stripping "the little people" of their 2nd amendment rights to bear arms, yet packs a snub nose 38 revolver in her purse, even when accompanied by Secret Service. When challenged on this, she unhesitatingly stated she had "special" rights to carry a firearm.

As a Congress person her 1st Amendment rights are EXACTLY THE SAME as mine or other Americans. She does however need to be FAR more careful since she is a public person. The ludicrous thing is that she seems to believe that this isn't the case. In fact she seems to believe that she can speak completely unguarded, which suggests to me that her political career will be a short one.

Those who voted for her haven't enough understanding of the constitution to be able to vote rationally. She won in a gerrymandered district near Orlando previously represented by a Ga Tech graduate (who won in a nearby district.)
The system is broken and it won't be fixed peacefully. Demings and other ignorant black females like her have been given political power because of their race and gender, not because of ability. (Not that the white male sociopaths in DC are any better representatives for individual liberty or free markets.)

Well, Freedom, I would say you have summed it up nicely, and clearly. I agree with your points, I am not familiar with her election details, but I can believe it.

I voted this down because the article appears to be Fake news. I looked at her twitter feed and I was unable to find the reference that was provided as a screenshot. A screenshot is easy to make up but a URL to Twitter would have been a better reference. The information provide by the article is not verifiable which means this article is probably questionable at best.

Well, Fred, you missed the bus. I clicked on the Facebook link in the aricle and it took me to her FB page and not only did that one seem to occur, there were a bunch more. One guy even posted a screenshot of the conversation and said "don't delete it it is public record" and she may have deleted t, but there are a lot more comments on this. So, I would disagree this is "fake". She may be trying to make it fake, but FB is a screw job like twitter, once posted, never dead....

Okay, can you provide a link to the Facebook comment to verify?

Also, I just went in here front door, and you can see whoever she pissed off has been hammering all her posts, go back to May 16 or so and scroll down and almost all of them have several "so is this how your different first amendment rights apply" or some such. They are just ignoring the whole thing, which is the only way to handle uncomfortable truths...

Fred, this is the one from the article, now remember, Facebook has a whole slew of little tricks to "provide privacy" so if you go in her front door FB page I am not sure you will ever see it, as, with all things that cause them discomfort, they either delete them or mark them "private", and you don't know they are there.

Okay, I found the comment and I stand corrected. I guess that's what she said but I feel surprised by it. Why any politician would ever make such a comment is beyond my comprehension. Thank you taking to time to verify the comment.

Thats ok Fred, we try to hold to factual discussions but with so much media trash out there, you can never be sure it is real or not. Before I posted this I went to her page and I can tell you there are now some things missing that were there. Even so, her staff refused to address it which is pretty arrogant behavior in my book.... I do appreciate your skepticism and polite questioning, feel free to do so on any of my posts, I welcome it, and have been caught out before.

As someone who gets Orlando news, Val Demings has been very controversial for quite a while. She is not my congresswoman, but she certainly is in the news here. People love her, or despise her. I am not a fan.

To give Demings her due, she may be referring to Article I, Section 6: "... and for any Speech or Debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other Place." But that's narrower than she seems to think it is, even if it has been interpreted by the courts as protecting anything published in the Congressional Record.

Actually, this is the first reaction of most progressives: that somehow the rules apply differently to other people than to them. It's nothing weird at all: it's a product of their impaired mental state. (Michael Savage)

But indicative of a root cause to a lot of issues:
I'm special, you are not" That thread courses through much of society and was something I thought AR wove in AS to illustrate it for us.

Absolutely. Equality does not enter into the mindset of the common progressive. They are superior to everyone else, seeing themselves as the gifted rulers who by virtue of their superior minds and ethics should automatically be gifted rulerships in society a la Plato's Republic. They simply can't understand why the rest of us don't also recognize their superiority.
