I watched excerpts of it. It looked to me like the person taking the video had some kind mental illness, maybe depression. She reacted rudely to their confederate flag and started filming. The people at the store starting filming back and being equally rude back to her. As she was leaving, her psychological episode appeared to get worse, and one of the jerks mocked her. A different person, the first person in the video with a brain, came over and checked on her and her kids, probably making sure the kids were safe and their mother's episode wasn't putting them in danger.

Then Robert Rich wrote an article about it that makes him look like a person looking to be a a-hole and politics provides fig leaf, albeit a transparent one, to make it look like commentary rather than laughing at the mentally ill.

Sorry MIke, I was able to watch the video, and it was just such a case of clear imposition on the guys running the store, it was something to see. I will see if I can find a straight shot to the video.

Another possible interpretation is she wanted to discredit the store, so she provoked a confrontation with the staff while filming. In this scenario her outburst of crying is fake, and she was hoping that "making mom cry" would turn people against the store.

I don't think that's the case. I think she has something like depression that caused her to over-react to the flag.

So we have a mentally ill person crying --> jerk mocking her --> a-hole writing an article about it, all of them ostensibly writing about public policy. It's a microcosm for national politics.
