In August, his boss is shutting down Z Pizza and putting him and 11 co-workers out of work.
It is economically impossible to afford the unaffordable even if doing the impossible is mandated by elite lib know-it-alls.

Who is a lib who can learn a common sense Economics 101 lesson?
They for sure can't learn from seeing mistakes made by other libs.

Alberta's government is raising the minimum wage from $12.20 to $15.00 in about a year. It went up from $10.00 to $12.20 over the past two years. I can just about see the businesses shut down or lay off employees.
No one forces the employees to go to work, yet the government forces businesses to pay what they dictate. I would rather work for $12.00 per hour and have a job. Who is John Galt?

Look to the metro areas around the country for examples of ignoring reallity. The consequences resemble Detroit and other bastions of leftist ideas. Not pretty, to say the least. Seattle may join that list in the near future if it keeps heading in their present direction.

Did the Left really not know that this was going to happen? My guess is that they wanted this result because they hate fast food and they hate Wal-Mart. (In which case, I expect they'll carve out an exception when they start having to pay more for a latte at Starbucks.)

At least this is one mistake we know Trump won't make. Union workers in one of his Atlantic City resorts voted for a big raise in pay, so he fired everybody.

The first thing that comes to my mind (in AS) is when Hank Reardon's wife Lillian can't understand why Henry can't just "make it work" as the government continues to encroach on his profit margin, to the point where the margin goes negative - "But Henry, you're smart, you can make it work ...." or words to that effect. That line from Saturday Night Live also comes to mind, "...but if the net profit of selling your widget is slightly negative, how do you make a profit?" I forget whether it was Chevy Chase of Dan Akroyd, but the answer was ... "VOLUME!"

Then there's Oklahoma City, with no state or municipal minimum wage laws. Starting wages in any business are over $12/hour. It's the result of a booming labor market, with a need for 6,000 new workers. Add to that the fact that Forbes magazine rated OKC as the most affordable metro center in the nation. Government has played a part, but not by imposing wage or price controls. Both state and city governments have worked hard to attract new business to get out of the oil and gas boom and bust cycle, and it's worked.

You can exaggerate, lie or fudge just about anything, but not good old simple math. If your cost is higher than your income - you are out of business. Or putting it the way a famous business mogul does, (paraphrasing) "If at the end of your fiscal year you paid all your bills and was one dollar short you are a failure. If at the end of your fiscal year you paid all your bills and have one dollar left, you are a success." That pretty much sums it up. I wouldn't wait until August to get out of Seattle..

amazing that the socialists dont realize the facts of reality when it comes to business. they just assume that we all will suck it up and pay the $15 and then just soak the customers who cant do anything about it. Nice work if you can get it. If that was true and there were no consequences, I should soak them right now and keep the money for myself.....

All you can afford to pay workers is what you can afford.
That's just too simple for pinhead progressive politicians.

    Oh, you meanie, you!
Don't you know you're supposed "to level the playing field" in order "to spread the wealth around?"
Just ask O the Deep State Great and Powerful.
I just quoted his BS. Not mine.

Whoa!! With that economic acumen you should run for office😜. As I am sure that is the next 'fix' these bozos will be proposing, followed by another minimum wage rise to offset the price increases. Government never solves problems, just creates more with its remedies. Because it isn't long term solutions they search for, just a bandaid to slow the bleeding while keeping the victim injured enough to still require its intervention.

I imagine that books about basic economics sent to lib politicians would end up burned for the crime of progressive heresy.

In my small company of 10 people, I have three people who are worth $15 an hour. The rest would simply lose their jobs

There is a more insidious reason for that $15 wage hike, after passage of ObamaCare and the insurance market failures, the Dems 'reality' didn't want to end up sticking large swaths of people on MediCaid. They wanted it to look like they 'cared' at the ballot box, but no one is going to cheer or brag about having a welfare health care card.

But $15 on a young person working fulltime is about $30 k for flipping burgers and probably outside of subsidies - so that 'raise' the Bernie voters expected turned out to be employer-paid premiums using after-tax dollars in some individual market.
It has been part of their scheme toward single-layer and a mechanism to bury trillions in domestic spending while developing a subservient class.

A great and growing economy is the enemy of socialism. Their lies and bullshit only flies if the masses are scared, but as history shows, it has never been successful, nor sustainable.
