Tell the climate changers plant more trees instead of demonstrating in the streets. That is a proactive and productive initiative!

In a recent discussion elsewhere, a very wise friend recalled learning in high school that Svante Arrhenius had calculated, in 1896, the global warming effect of increased CO2 and that humans can, in fact, impact it. Here's a verse that story inspired:

About CO2 made no guesses erroneous.

How temperature ranges could be bound.

That fascinating Swedish reference
Will challenge mankind’s climate preference:

It is known as the precautionary principle.
To follow it, you need to buy insurance against any real or imagined threat.
No project would ever go ahead,

Back during the early 90s there was a really severe blizzard that I actually saw fall in Alabama.
Al Gore said it was caused by global warming (before climate change became the preference). .
I recall Rush Limbaugh on my car radio laughing at Gore about that. Earlier, Rush called him "ozone head" also.

If we're into making $hit up because we wish it were true, I'd like a thread dedicated to all the rationalizations we could think of as to why evidence showing Taco Bell health risks are not real. One time I ate Taco Bell and ran a 10k, when alarmists said I would have a heart attack. 30 years ago they said all fats were bad, and if we could suck them out of foods we'd be healthier. That resulted in worse health outcomes, so now it's just certain fats. How can you trust scientists when they change their story every time they find new evidence? Pick a story and stick to it. Mine is Taco Bell and Xanax are good for me. And there's a righteous god up in the sky looking down on me with my grandparents. I like the notion of a natural foods (except for Taco Bell), so contrary to all the evidence, maybe GMOs are dangerous and local organic food is better. I know the evidence disagrees with that, but we're making stuff up, right? 25% of GDP goes to the gov't, so I'm sure everything I don't like in life is on occasionally studied by the gov't, so we can dismiss it on that basis. Then we just go to the abstracts of fields we don't understand, find things that don't look right, maybe something about how concentration of sodium and potassium are regulated in the body, and then work it into a narrative that it's the stuff they don't wantcha to know. The salt in Taco Bell isn't really bad for us. Homeopathic medicine could cure high blood pressure and whatever ails you better than "Western" medicine.

I see one rejection of reality no worse than the next.

I suppose next we'll hear about the "butterfly effect," where in imaginative speculation a flutter of a butterfly's wing in the wrong direction or sequence can set off an unforeseen sequence of events that results in a catastrophic happening. The application is that any countervailing evidence to the human effects on climate can't foresee every circumstance, so we have to assume the most frightening outcome.

Proponents of unexpected/unlikely events rely on the bell curve, where there's always a statistical probability of the most improbable result, however minute.

The flaw in the butterfly proposition is that it assumes physical events are like a nuclear chain reaction, with runaway uncontrollable results. In the real world, there are dampening effects and opposing reactions that make the butterfly concept as near impossible as can be.

Had to laugh at the c(lie)mate warming protest being postponed after being met with a foot of unusual spring snow fall and sub 0 temperatures in Denver Co. this week end.

There's always a way to interpret things which is why the eco-nuts need the vague "climate change" label more than the specific warming or cooling.

As my communist daughter put it, "What if despite all their mistakes or guesses they are right. It is such a serious question wouldn't it be better to be wrong than risk the consequences?" She studies math and I asked her how many 'ifs' can be in an equation before the results are considered worthless? Her reply; "Well there are a lot of ifs in the models, but still the consequences of doing nothing in the face of such a serious threat would be a grave mistake." She did not reply to the question that models are worthless.

The entire "Climate Change" business is pure B.S. I'm already knee-deep in it via the Washington outhouse, and since this is a minor issue I don't think it's worth bothering about.

In the prehistory of "warming', there was the threat of a new ice age; but we had had some really nasty winters. All the imperical data collected since accurate records were kept "proved" it! There were hints that temperature samples indicated temperatures were rising, neglecting to mention that many of those samples were taken near heat producing areas or or close to cooling systems?
Along came Al (the bore) Gore, and the computer projection, the infamous hockey stick, which yielded the same results no matter what information was put in it, humm. He was out selling indugences for the sin of leaving a carbon footprint; he placed his jackboot on the neck of every man, woman, and child from his guzzling SUV and private plane!. Did the marchers on Earth Day metion six inches of snow in Denver and a couple of feet in the mountains? How about the Antarctic ice which is thicker than has ever been measured in modern times.
Between 800 and 1300 the northern hemisphere got warmer than te predictors claim is coming, Greenland was "green", now frozen Vineland grew grapes and made wine, the dark ages ended in the Renaissance! Cold people are depressed and try to survive, warm people are happy and enjoy life. The warmers are in their own ice age and want to make evey one else as miserable as they are!
Now it's time to fire up the grill, 1" steak, grilled asparagus, and baked potato crisped with the high heat of the charcoal!
