Gov. Cuomo To Throw More Than $13.3 Million At Gun Violence

Hopefully, all the guns in New York will be so busy trying to catch their fair share and only their fair share of that money that they will stop being violent.
Well, to be a little more serious, I really don't see what throwing all that money at the concept of gun violence will for real really do.
One thing is for sure, none of it will be Gov. Cuomo's money.
Me dino has a suggestion for law abiding New Yorkers. Move here to Alabama where you can carry a gun to protect yourselves like I do.
Another thing. Is it just me, or does that photo with the article look like someone suffering from the heartbreak of constipation.

    That should be enough to give a significant portion of the citizenry training in gun use and provide them with a firearm.

      Now, you have an interesting point there. If a person has a right to exercise a constitutional right, shouldn't there be financial assistance if one is unable to exercise such right because of financial lack? That is precisely the argument used by the Left to justify taxpayer's money being used to fund abortion. So, using the same logic, if a person cannot afford to buy a gun, and they have a RIGHT to EXERCISE their Second Amendment rights, shouldn't they be given a firearm at taxpayer's expense? ...just trying to be consistent here ... :-)

    The only way that money would do any good to stop gun violence would be to use it to teach people the ethical self _ interest of Ayn Rand and have the govt get out of the way.
    With prosperity comes lower crime rates.

      Yeah, I'm all for attempting to ethically and reality educate the indoctrinated.
      Below the article a reader comments that the money should be used to go after violent gangs.
      A gun is just an object until someone picks it up.
      I pick up a gun every day but only because I may need to defend myself or someone else.
      A crook picks one up to do harm.

    Chicago already has some of the strictest gun laws around and look at their crime rate. I think if the hysterical gun control idiots would for once take a look at where murders occur and where they don't they might start wanting to regulate something else, like large cities with overcrowded populations of low income unemployed uneducated minorities and illegals that use those guns as a substitute for the jobs they can't get or don't exist. How about using that $13 million for a jobs program for lower income or unemployed people instead of hiring high priced trainers and consultants?

    How about attacking the REASONS for gun violence, poverty, mental illness, overcrowding, lack of education, unemployment, illegal immigration, homelessness, etc before passing even more laws that the criminals will ignore just like the ones already on the books.

    They say insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Well, gun control is it. In the areas where guns are prolific in the hands of the citizenry, crime is low. In places where there are no or few guns, crime is high. It ain't rocket science folks. Apparently anybody but a Democrat can see that.

    and free college for all families earning less than $100k annually. NY, already broke, is spending money like there is no tomorrow.

    Prediction: NY is itching for a bailout and waiting for CA to get theirs first.

    Here in NY we have over seventeen hundred laws, statutes and regulations governing guns and or ammunition. That's 1700. A thousand and seven hundred . Maybe this time we'll get the right law. Oh wait, you mean the one that says " thou shalt not kill". You mean if you follow that the others are supercilious . But what would the government functionaries do for a living?

    If Cuomo didn't hamstring the Police and then gave the criminals a get out of jail card, he would have an illegal gun crime problem. He also penalizes law biding citizens from getting a CCW and then a weapon. The whole system in that state is stuck in a bureaucratic morass.

    Well, Dino, my wife and I are seriously looking into escape from The Peoples Republic of New York. We keep voting for our liberties, but the collectivists are in complete control here and we're tired of our taxes supporting them and their idiotic causes. We have some good friends in Alabama and they invited us to move there many times. Maybe it's time we take you up on your invitation to law abiding New Yorkers and take a closer look at Alabama. Our friends and family in places like Florida, Alabama, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and Oklahoma all scream at us to "Get the hell out of NY"!

    The socialist governor of NY, along with his buddy Mike Bloomberg, targeting the wrong aspect of guns. As usual, its not about guns, its about control of the citizens. Unarmed citizens are easier to take advantage of by the criminal element, in and out of government. When will the folks in NY state throw out the socialists/communists controlling that state? Sheesh.

        Which us precisely the reason for the Second Amendment. When the citizenry have the ability to fight back, heck, when anyone has the ability to fight back it's a game changer. I recently watched a couple of movies on a rainy afternoon. The 2nd and 3rd apparently of a series. The 3rd was Rampage: President Down and the 2nd was also Rampage something, I don't recall the entire title. At first I was kind of appalled that someone would put out a movie of this type as the lead character starts of by killing the what are in the time period in the future the top 3 Federal government officials in the US. The POTUS and the next 2 in line to succeed him. His whole mission is kill the rich and powerful and give power back to the people. He has and does massacre hundreds of civilians and LEO's while amassing an extensive internet following. I won't spoil it but by the time I finished watching I was pretty well persuaded to his point of view which was to kill those with power and money because they will never listen to our words, which is how this country came to be basically. It's kind of frightening, in fact it's scary as hell but I've commented before that I believe we are headed towards a civil war that will permanently divide the country. I say let's move all the liberals to the west coast and let them have their own country. They all seem to like living jammed up like sardines in a can so let's put the ALL together and the rest of us can then go on about our lives.
