Ultimately on Budgets. That's October. The Senate has no vote on that. The President can veto laws however. The reps know that. this is grandstanding.

They'll end up passing a "continuing resolution" that funds the agency at the same rate as this year.

I’m confused. The Congress holds the purse strings...so..? How can the Senate decide to shut them down? What happens next? Does the IRS start off next session with no money because nothing has been agreed to by both houses? If the congress needs the senate to sign off on a budget bill how can the congress realistically control the purse? Why do we say that if that’s not really the case. How does the congress hold back the money? By permission?

this act will be vetoed. DOA. In the fall they can not grant the IRS budget. This was mostly republican election grandstanding

It's time to shut them down. We hold it hostage to major reform, answers about scandals...this is the only power the House has-that of the purse

They may not get all they're asking for, but any cut to the IRS is a good thing. Power of the purse in an election year-maybe.
