When you walked into the lobby of a microwave company I worked at for 20 years there were five patents framed on the wall. They were for the microwave circuits invented by the founders of the company. Without the patents the company would have folded in a minute.
His statement, as I saw it in the trailer, was incomplete. The real impact is in his statement, 'The government takes what it wants and taxes the rest.' That is what resonated most for me.
It is great... except-why the hell are they fixated on copyrights in the trailer and ignore PATENTS! which right is more essential to our economic well-being?! sigh
Because Hollywood is concentrated on a product that is copyrighted - the rest of us live where patents are far more relevant. Different forms of creativity require different protections and at times one side may forget the other side lives in a different world.
Because people have little concept of the difference, unfortunately, and the goal of this is to make people recognize gov intrusion and intervention in private business. :) (I know it was a rhetorical question...sometimes I like to answer those anyway. God I'm annoying.)
