Fed up with the 2 parties, a group of centrists rises up Members of the Centrist Project aim to tap into voter disaffection, elect independents to the Senate, and force partisans to compromise
Well, now, this seems to be a start.. the recognition that both parties are failed states seems to be spreading....
None of their other statements of purpose have any real substance, and sound a lot like liberal bumper sticker phrases. This is a scam to dupe the voters into thinking the "new independents" are different, when in reality they're just Democrat wolves in sheep's clothing.
In addition, here's a line from the first paragraph on their website: "Both major political parties are moving farther to the ideological extremes, leaving little incentive for leaders to find common ground." I call BS on this since both parties have been moving leftward and not to ideological extremes from each other at all. The Dems are shifting socialist/communist faster than the Reps, but the two parties, IMHO, have been morphing into two bullies fighting over who gets to control the neighborhood. Now along comes a bolt of lightning called Trump. The flash-bang seems to have woken up some Reps to a thing called reality and driven the Dems deeper into apoplectic fantasy. If we start seeing Dems more strongly clinging to "government controls the people" and the Reps move towards "People control the government", then if the Reps prevail that is an ideological extreme I can live with.
It's still a bit early to tell if the Reps have truly awoken to what America is supposed to be and what their role should be in the grand scheme of things. We'll see soon enough, I expect.
This brings to mind my first disappointment in Trump and that is his apparent desire to take the "Freedom Caucus" (FC) to the woodshed for not going along with Paul Ryan's Obamacare repeal/replace bill. It seems to me the FC took one look at it and declared "Hey, we're supposed to be doing a scorch and burn and this crap doesn't even add up to a decent backyard barbecue! We ain't putting our name on that!". IMHO, the FC are the troops that want to kick the bad guys hard and Paul Ryan just doesn't seem to have the required spine. It seems the FC could be Trump's phalanx, but he put the wrong unit up front.
Choosing the "lesser of two evils" is still the wrong choice as long as both parties are dominated by power mad statists and looters. When the game is rigged, the answer is to play a different game that is not rigged. That is also true in other markets, e.g., banking and securities.
Funny how this stuff is in response to the "extreme" position of the freedom caucus of just 'repealing' something that didn't exist a couple of years ago.
There can be no compromise on basic principles. There can be no compromise on moral issues. There can be no compromise on matters of knowledge, of truth, of rational conviction."
We don't need more compromise as compromise only leads to evil and that is what we have enough of in DC.
