Here is the blueprint for the progressive takeover of the children of this country. It behooves us all to stop it, or start homeschooling. School districts and states need to get off the teat of the Federal Govt.
it's only too clear what happens when they become involved in areas they don't belong.

Unfortuately, Marx and his present day followers didn't read that admission or understand it. How many times in the twentith century did they try to build utopias?

I am blessed to have a strong academically conservative school for my children as they are in lower and middle school currently. If it wasn't for our school we would be homeschooling no doubt!

I quite enjoyed reading Plato's Republic. Overall it was quite entertaining and educational in the ways of the social engineers delusions. The most important part for me was the recognition/ admission by the author that his Caste system /Utopian dream could never be actualized.

Yes. Marx got his hubris from Plato's Republic. A small core of elites will tell the unwashed majority how and when to live, and, how and when to die.

Utah is not monolithically conservative Mormon. It has been reported SLC has a very large gay population. (raised right eyebrow) So, any place can have a population which is contrary to the normative. Even Austin has conservatives and Libertarians. I'll bet there are even some Tea Partyers there.

kf may be referring to the academically conservative curriculum which would, more than likely, teach by proven methods, not the experimental claptrap which seems designed to obfuscate, instead of make clear. You may have seen something floating around which takes a page out of a math book from ca. 1900. The problems were concrete and related to teaching the child how to cope with every day problems associated with life at that time. Granted, the times have changed from those but the underlying premise of teaching children hard and fast mathematical skills hasn't. I've been a 'victim', several times, of watching, and waiting, for one of younger geniuses' trying to make change without having the advantage of a cash register which tells them what to do. Skills, skills, skills.

Thank you for this comment. It is quite open in its contempt of anything that doesn't smack of conformity, with the ultimate outcome being automatons ready for their directives.

"Academically conservative." What does that mean? Sit down, shut up, and do as you are told? Montessori methods are experimental and interactive. Over 100 years old now, they, too, might be called "conservative."

The politicians have a way with sophistry that fools the masses into believing this is a good thing. It is like buying a car and never looking under the hood... I think your offspring are in good hands regardless. I know you will set them on the right path. :)

I think we are both in PA. I wrote my comgressman to ask for ideas on how to fight this. I like him and think he is doing a good job but I didn't hear back. That was disappointing. I spoke to him before he left for DC and he said it would be hard to get much done with the current administration.

Thanks for the post nma. I have a friend who is working hard to stop it in our area. Seems like a runaway freight train sometimes.

I really hope people get informed and speak up about it. I'm just glad we have only three years of HS left for our son, and it's looking like private HS for our daughter.

Texas did it. But then, we're obstreperous to start with and ornery to boot.

Loved the post. Education starts at home, not in a school. Parents are responsible for educating THEIR children that THEY PROCREATED. NOT the stupid State. Progressives~communists will never understand this.
