"A white rectangle hung over the city, imparting the date to the men in the streets below. In the rusty light of this evening’s sunset, the rectangle said: September 2." - Atlas Shrugged

On this day in Atlas Shrugged
- Eddie Willers walks through NYC and is bothered by the city's gigantic calendar announcing "September 2nd."
- Hank Rearden and Dagny Taggart take a vacation and discover an abandoned motor.
- Francisco D'Anconia's money speech is made on September 2nd at Jim and Cheryl Taggart's wedding.
- D'Anconia Copper is nationalized on September 2nd and the date on the calendar is replaced with _"Brother, you asked for it!"_

Did you know?
Ayn Rand choose Sept. 2nd as a significant day because it was the date she started writing Atlas Shrugged.

All you have to do is read the morning news. Sure doesn't sound like "Atlas Shrugged" is particularly fictional, to me.

    Happy September 2nd.

BTW: I like Taylor Schilling as Dagny. Just saying.

I have been to the gulch and can verify its serenity and predict that the solution will only come from there.

There is absolutely no "fiction" in the events as portrayed in Atlas Shrugged. Today is too eerily similar to the story that Ayn Rand wrote more than 50 years ago.

Sad but true. And only we can make a difference.

What is both written, as well as what's shone in the films ( Even though Pt. 2, should be completely RE-SHOT with the "FIRST" cast ) its only CLOSE, to what's actually WAITING . . . the system is "VERY" close to coming apart. People ( including MYSELF ) are simply WAITING for it to happen . . . then, God help us "ALL". Its going to get REAL ugly, REAL fast. On a level that people won't even BELIEVE. ( Especially when all their "TOYS" stop working . . . ) It will be what the BOOK . . . "DOESN'T" speak about, only HINTS at.

Tell me I'm splitting hairs, but since the characters and some of the places in the book have not existed nor do they, it is not non-fiction. However, the more modern term of "faction" suits it very well.

I will be replacing my 4-year old Atlas Shrugged shirt with this one. Very nice and am looking forward to receiving it. Thanks.

I did, too. However, for continuity's sake, may not be able to go back to her. Of course, that didn't seem to bother them from AS1 to AS2. Contractual commitments, personal reasons, whatever.

With Dear Leader in the White House, shredding the Constitution, wrecking the US economy, and trying to get us into a war in Syria, what could possibly go wrong?

Delicious Irony: 9/2, today, is Labor Day, a day that celebrates Organized Labor.
    Huh?

Cool. I had forgotten all that happened on the same day in the book. Finding more and more reasons to read it again.
