“We are on the verge of a global transformation. All we need is the right major crisis and the nations will accept the New World Order.” (David Rockefeller, Statement to the United Nations Business Council, September 23, 1994.)

The social experiment in China under Chairman Mao's leadership is one of the most important and successful in human history.” (David Rockefeller, New York Times, 1973.)

“For more than a century, ideological extremists at either end of the political spectrum have seized upon well-publicized incidents to attack the Rockefeller family for the inordinate influence they claim we wield over American political and economic institutions. Some even believe we are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States, characterizing my family and me as "internationalists" and of conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure — one world, if you will. If that's the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it.” (David Rockefeller, Memoirs, p. 405. 2002.)

"His wife [Peggy], a dedicated conservationist, died at 80 in 1996."

This is a euphemism for the fact that both David and Peggy were radical anti-private property rights activists and lobbyists. For all their feudalist holdings, land ownership is not for the "others". They have heavily funded political activists and NGOs, and have systematically exploited insider connections with government to trample property rights. Their 100 room mansion and enormous grounds in Maine are adjacent to Acadia National Park as their scenic back yard -- and exempt from the eminent domain they helped arrange to be used against others.

The Rockefellers have been part of National Park Service politics at least since the early 1930s. As wealthy insiders they have arranged for and funded all kinds of national land use planning schemes at the highest levels of government, as well as acquisition for massive expansion of the National Park Service. They got away with far too much (like the mass condemnations seizing property by eminent domain as early as the 1930s for the creation of the Smoky Mountains National Park). Though some of it was stopped in its extreme form when first openly pushed, the anti-private property agenda continues to progress incrementally at all levels of government. (This trend has been instigated, funded, ideologically promoted, and implemented from within the US since long before the so-called UN "Agenda 21" that conspiracy theorists blame while they look in the wrong place for the cause.) The merging of these wealthy old line "conservation" feudalists with the ideology and radical activism of the New Left beginning in the 1960s and early 70s has been deadly.

As one example of David Rockefeller in particular, in the late 1960s his wife Peggy Rockefeller collaborated with the National Park Service to establish the Maine Coast Heritage Trust, a "private land trust" designed as a means to get other people's private property in Maine into Federal ownership through insider government planning and acquisition. MCHT was funded by David Rockefeller, and planned and organized by Peggy Rockefeller and Acadia National Park. It's first organizer and Executive Director was the Chief Ranger at Acadia.

In the 1980s MCHT in collaboration with National Park Service secretly planned an attempt to turn most of Washington County, Maine -- the eastern most county on the Atlantic coast, adjacent to Canada -- into a new National Park. An organized grass roots effort stopped that one, but MCHT has continued to collaborate with NPS at Acadia and with the US Fish & Wildlife Service and state agencies taking over private property in Maine by eminent domain and punitive "environmental" regulations preventing use of the land.

David Rockefeller, and others in his clan such as the late Laurence Rockefeller, are examples of a wealthy aristocracy thoroughly enmeshed in government behind the scenes, acting to take over land they want to "preserve" -- land belonging to others, mostly in rural areas without the means to fight them or in most cases even know what the elitists are doing with their cultural genocide. The Rockefellers' mentality and actions have been typical of the wealthy, politically-connected "conservation" organizations in the viro pressure group lobby across the country. Yet most of the public knows nothing about it, thinking of the big "conservation" names like Sierra Club, Nature Conservancy, Audubon and many more in glowing terms of romanticized virtue itself in an emotional orgy of scenic imagery.

Pillsbury vacation home surrounded by state forest.
Pillsbury State Forest is a state forest located in Cass County, Minnesota. Created in 1900, it was the first designated Minnesota state forests. The forest borders Gull Lake and the city of Lake Shore to the north. The forest is managed by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. The name of the forest is derived from John S. Pillsbury, the former Governor of Minnesota, who donated the original 1,000 acres (4.0 km2) of land that became the state forest.[2] now 25,000 acres. Similar way to control neighbors maintain forest and reduce RE taxes

There will be mourning on Jekyll Island, but not from me. Rockefeller's grandfather, on the other hand, is a hero of mine.

Those on Jekyll Island today have no concern for the Rockefeller family. Most don't even know the history of the (Georgia state owned) island.
I suspect the mourning will be from people in the Empire state and in DC, with most of it false mourning from hypocrites.

1910 Duck hunt. The conception of the Federal Reserve Bank. Sold with a promise of no more bank failures. 15 years later every bank in the country fails ...hmmmm.
The 1910 "duck hunt" on Jekyll Island included Senator Nelson Aldrich, his personal secretary Arthur Shelton, former Harvard University professor of economics Dr. A. Piatt Andrew, J.P. Morgan & Co. partner Henry P. Davison, National City Bank president Frank A. Vanderlip and Kuhn, Loeb, and Co. partner Paul M. Warburg. From the start the group proceeded covertly. They began by shunning the use of their last names and met quietly at Aldrich's private railway car in New Jersey. In 1916, B. C. Forbes discussed the Jekyll conference in his book Men Who Are Making America and illuminates, "To this day these financiers are Frank and Harry and Paul [and Piatt] to one another and the late Senator remained 'Nelson' to them until his death. Later [, following the Jekyll conference,] Benjamin Strong, Jr., was called into frequent consultation and he joined the 'First-Name Club' as 'Ben.'" This book as well as a magazine article by Forbes is the only public mention to the conference until around 1930, when Paul Warburg's book The Federal Reserve System: Its Origin and Growth and Nathaniel Wright Stephenson's book Nelson W. Aldrich: A Leader in American Politics were publishe

Amazing, that in two generations a family went from being America's great capitalists and wealth builders to New World Order type socialists.

When a man has to create his own wealth with the sweat from his own brow, he appreciates capitalism. Someone who has wealth handed to him is going to have a hard time understanding that. It's easy to give away money and property when you have a near endless supply that you didn't work for. Hmmmm..... sounds like our government.

That generation of Rockefellers didn't have their wealth handed to them -- they were made to work from an early age. David Rockefeller had connections, but clawed his way up in the banking industry. It's not a matter of understanding through working versus inheritance leading to wealthy statists -- look at Bill Gates -- it's bad philosophy with the means to impose it.
