True story, going on today:
He had been a heavy drinker in the past and that caused him his deteriorating condition. For this, he now takes 12 pills a day, one which I know costs over $4,000 a bottle for a one month supply. He has been in and out of hospitals for some two years now. In that time he has had hospital rooms in critical care and surveillance units for months; a number of different surgeries, including a kidney and pace maker implant; numerous doctors and nurses; his own special bed, electric wheel chair and portable IV dispenser; plus a group that is now helping him with his diet, strengthening and rehabilitation therapy. He needs to be fit before they can start the complex surgical procedure for replacing his heart with an artificial heart which he can use while he waits in line for a compatible heart from some donor.

He is broke and always has been. He does however have a social worker who scares the hospital staff shitless. She literally orders them to provide all this.
