The only way to stabilize world food shortages is massive prosperity.

Ah, I mistook the sense in which you phrased the statement. I took it for a straight line statement rather than an oblique reference to government's penchant for meddling in individual endeavor. My apologies.

We are saying the same thing. Haven't had my vitamins yet this morning ;^)
I was trying to say that this tech might be used by anyone with a spare room and a source of electricity, nutrients, and water on any neighborhood block to feed people in the area. Unless the technology is somehow restricted, and that could be quite difficult to do.

There are literally hundreds of indoor pot farmers who could teach them a thing or two.

No, the 'local' sources of food is what you want. It's the creation of mega-factories where supply is concentrated from whence the danger comes. The legislation would have to go the other way to prevent the creation of such.

The technology would have to be controlled or legislated to prevent neighborhood 'farmers' from creating local sources of food. As always, new technology is 2 edged.

Another step in the creation of ark ships, both on and off planet. One to help stabilize world food shortages and another to colonize the Moon and Mars and create generational ships to explore the nearer stars. Of course, these facilities can be used as a weapon. Many people will chose slavery to slowly dying of starvation. Any monopoly can become a weapon (and human nature will use it so).
