Trump and Vault 7, by Robert Gore

This lays waste to the IC’s “assessments” that Russia hacked the DNC and passed its information on to Wikileaks. That claim was already on thin ice because the source materials for those assessments were never disclosed. Even if they were, the quoted passage makes clear that the CIA, and by implication any other intelligence agency with the same capability, could have committed the hack and left behind Russian hackers’ “fingerprints,” a not unlikely possibility given the IC’s hostility towards Trump.

This is the smallest victory Wikileaks has handed to Trump. Whether he realizes larger victories depends on whether he and his team study the Wikileaks press release and disclosures and realize their implications. As Commander in Chief, Trump is duty bound to ask questions and investigate. How did the CIA lose “control of the majority of it’s hacking arsenal” and documentation? How did Wikileaks obtain so many of the nuclear warheads of the US’s cyber-warfare armory?

I am concerned that the gators in this swamp could find other swamps funded by even greater evil than our own tax dollars.

I just recently read 1984 for the first time. Somehow escaped reading it as a kid. Incredible book...

the scope is overwhelming...a strict objectivist philosopher would be tied in knots trying to unravel it...let along a pragmatist like trump...is it your gordian knot?...

Very comprehensive essay. I keep visualizing a large space rock would fall on the Langley office and the new Utah info facility. leaving smoking craters in the ground. Then the Prez can rebuild it right.

When you step back and really look at the big picture you can plainly see that we're living in a giant nightmare-come-true of the abolishment of basic rights and dignity.

We just need to ignore the unions and start firing civil servants. Their "attitude" comes from being untouchable and a "job for life" mentality like its welfare. Well, it really is, working-class-welfare.

Just get rid of them. The day of the surveillance state has passed anyway, repeal the surveillance laws, close the FISA court, make the agents make a real request to a real judge when they have real evidence and suspicion of crime.

Personally, I think we unwittingly Caught them attempting a Black Swan operation that would have gotten us into another war with Russia.

If you've read: Morals and Dogma by Albert Pike, you'd realize "Some-bodies" are following that plan to a tee and using islam to boot!

Trump vs Media-Democrats-RINO Republicans and the intelligence community. A herculean task but I agree it needs to be done.

Great article Straight. Kennedy wanted to take on the CIA and was assassinated. Nixon also wanted to reduce the power and over reach of the CIA. A small scandal forced him to resign after he was elected in a landslide victory. Hard to oppose the CIA. President Trumps first official visit was to CIA headquarters so I doubt he will go up against them. Time will tell.

I was trying to be the first on the bloggers' block with that kind of analysis, and I think I made it. Fortunately, I had two wisdom teeth out yesterday, so all I can is read and write. Thanks.

Before it was a Deep State devil. If Trump settles for something cosmetic but takes over the Deep State's infrastructure, then he's the new devil with control of that infrastructure.

This is a huge problem, which as you say, goes back to the 40s. My understanding is Congress did some reforms in the 70s, but then those reforms were gradually undone.

The important thing I take away from this is that President Trump may have some political motivation (due to the DNC hacking issue) to call for reforms of the CIA. If he does, he could go down in history as a great president for doing so. I agree. Not being involved in politics, I couldn't care a whit which politicians win/lose in the process.

You say if he doesn't usher in reforms, he'll have replaced one devil with another. I didn't get that. If he doesn't get any reforms enacted, then it's the same devil as before.
