Lucasfilm and Disney--Thanks Dr. Brett

I suppose I should thank Dr. Brett from here in the Gulch for giving me the warning that Lucasfilm had been purchased by Disney. As ASP2 was released I made a lot of comparisons to Star Wars and connected the Walt Disney/Ayn Rand link. So as my wife and I came in from our hot tub expecting a quiet evening, Dr. Brett left me the news which I had not heard yet. It took me a couple days to put my head together about the whole thing and this was the result. At first I hated it, but I have some very strong thoughts about it now.

It is a shallow mythology with a weak hero (Luke Skywalker) that gutted true heroism in the form of Han Solo, especially with the recuts that saw Lucas making Greedo shoot first. With Disney buying the franchise, there is finally hope that some artistry may finally be brought to that galaxy.| Permalink
