One of the big cautions we need to keep in mind these days is that, while words have meanings, to many folks, those meanings have been blurred or obliterated by progressives intent on re-defining things to suit their own agenda. Unfortunately, the government youth camps have succeeded in dumbing down approximately 50% of the population. The word "dreamers" serves as a perfect example.

Thanks for the reply. Writing about "The Depths at Their Heights" regarding theater, Ayn Rand cited Man of La Mancha and "The Impossible Dream." Great song, but ultimately, success is always denied. The best that Naturalism has to offer is a draw. Rocky (the first one) is an example of that: great fight, but to a draw with the "winner" being the reigning champion by default.

Haven't seen the movie, Mike, just enjoyed the song and most of the lyrics. Rearden was a dreamer whose work made his dream a reality. Most of the advances made start with a dream.

Gotta pass on this one. I read the summary of plot and it seems like Naturalism, not Romantic Realism. For a similar story, I liked "Broadcast News" until my brother pointed out that only the guy who compromised was successful. The others all got half measures for their rewards. So - not having seen the movie, I confess - it seems here that the lovers are doomed to unfulfilled lives based on random outcomes. In fact, the plot seems to be propelled by random incidents and momentary failures.

Do you have a better view of this that can shed some light?
