While the Dems and the mainstream media publicly indulge their fantasies, Trump's approval ratings are moving up. In trying to destroy Trump, they are only destroying what's left of their credibility.

I'm not sure, Shepard Smith (I am no fan of his) is calling him a loon, several other outlets are following suit, coupled with this bit, I would be careful assuming the bulk of the country supporting him will be enough. Most of what he says is the same think most people are saying. The Russia story so pandered about is really fake news, just like the DNC hack "by Russia" was fake news. They spin the story their way, and it becomes truth, as no outlet will change it, since then they look fake. Yet the story, as put out by them, was fake, it was a factual story, maybe, but it was spun in the direction they wanted, trashing the truth, and making it fake. The media is afraid of Trump because he can make his own news without them, therefor, all their power to control the mainstream opinion is now trashed. That scares them more than a crazy president. ow they are fishing, and in less than 30 days we have our first article " Trump may have committed his first impeachable offense". They play lawyer, judge and jury, then try to go sell it, and if it doesn't stick, they try another. I am sick of all media at this point, as I have yet to find one, ONE TINY reporter, who will just report the damn facts, and not "their opinion".

Let Shepard Smith rant on. How many people do you think will watch him? Remember: Megyn Kelly left Fox, and Tucker Carlson, her replacement in the slot, doubled the ratings for that slot. What does that tell you?

TC is a lot more aggressive and better at dealing with the loon idiots, that is true. Megyn went to the dogs with her war with Trump and then trying to manipulate everything with her shadow written book deal. I do not like Hannity much, but he at least stays with his beliefs.

In some ways I am a news junkie and therefore suffering from extreme withdrawal symptoms. I want to know what events are taking place in the world at large, my country, state, county and village. I am concerned that I will be an ignorant fool if I do not know what is going on among my fellow inhabitants. Once I have this knowledge, I am interested in the views of others regarding the importance and significance of these acts. It is distressing to me that others opinions and agendas are so entwined with the reporting of events that I can never be sure I am separating facts from opinion correctly. Since I cannot personally witness every event on earth, I am in constant doubt and feeling like the ignorant fool that I am trying to avoid.

Speaking of personal observation: I have been a participant or witness in a few, insignificant, events that were reported in the media and every single report was different from what I experienced. Not once have I read or heard what I saw or heard, sometimes in small ways but sometimes materially different. I would believe it is me and I live in an alternate universe but others have the same experience and this is getting more frequent.

I try to absorb the big picture by periodic visits to three sources: the mainstream media, Fox News and Trump's own statements (and tweets). This makes me better informed than those who only access sources that agree with their views.

Well, that is also my routine, it is the mainstream media trek that is the most distasteful. Yahoo in the last 9 months has done this huge slide to just skewed reports for the most part. Google isn't much better...

I believe it was Mark Twain who said "Those who do not read the newspaper are uninformed and those who do are misinformed." It seems today's MSM is the same thing on steroids.

I read back in the '70s that the Russian people were learning how to "read between the lines" and other techniques to glean the truth from Pravda. The Americans are doing the same today, but it still takes a rational mind to sort it all out.

Yep, it is true throughout history, the Japanese were particularly bad followed closely by Russia, Britain and the US. In fact, the Battle of Savo Island in 1942 was not reported until November, 1942, when it happened in mid August. The US Navy was soundly smashed by the Japanese that night. They even kept the survivors of the sunken ships in isolation until November, not even telling their families they were alive.

“You are not entitled to your opinion. You are entitled to your informed opinion. No one is entitled to be ignorant.”
    ― Harlan Ellison

“Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.”
    ― Mark Twain

    —Albert Einstein

“Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.”

Again me dino is thinking of those yapping Chihuahuas a now deceased relative used to keep.
Wanting you to go away, they'd (loud minority) yap their heads off while on their hind legs dancing and twirling and jumping up and down.
Watch out for the one who'd sneak up and nip at your heels while you cover your ears to shut out all that terribly loud yap yap yapping.
Lately me dino has been shamelessly ad hominem calling Democrats the Jackass Party (due to (1).their mule symbol and (2) them)..
Today I thought about changing that name to a certain breed of yapping dog.
But it occurred to me that readers would think I was probably talking about illegals from a Mexican state just across the border.

Am I the only one who gets the feeling the nation is already gone? It feels like we are still here geographically. But, we're a populace of easy marks, easily manipulated by media and social media. Our schools are a joke. Our dams are failing. Our roads are crumbling. We act like we prefer to not have any sovereignty. Lawmakers here openly talk of "mommy laws" where they want to take the kids. Taxes and regulations are horrendous against small business. We have one guy in office who actually talks like he'd like to reverse it and we see headlines like this.

Nothing surprises me anymore, really. But, it does make me sad. I think back to days when my grandpa was alive. We'd listen to a little news on the am radio, go fishing, and feel secure that we had some nice freedoms to enjoy. Now it just feels like a big mind f&*% living here.

Simply because we are seeing the results of 70 years of "Progressive enlightenment". We have yet to get as bad a Britian. I lived there for 2 years in the 70's and it was an absolute mess.Strikes for coal, trains, buses etc were actually scheduled to avoid impacting each other...yuck..

Feeling secure and being secure are two different things. A lot of these problems were present 60 years ago but they were well hidden from the public. The fact that they are in the open and being discussed and contested is a big improvement.

Well, I was alluding more to the education establishment takeover they slid in, when no one was looking. That has produced a lot of the current crop of snowflakes who need safe spaces and who think what's theirs is theirs, and what's yours is theirs, so give it up. They were all taught that is our glorious higher ed facilities, by people who have never had to work for a living, just reach tenure....(sorry if their are any actual working teachers here...speaking in a generality based on observation)...

I am disgusted by the leftist liberals. As far as I am concerned I want nothing further to do with people who supported Hillary. They are to be ignored intellectually and fought at each and every turn. The country is ready for a real revolt.

Democrats are on a path to self destruction, led by their own delusional fantasies that they represent truth and the will of the American people (well, at least the ones that count in the big coastal cities and Hollywood). The danger for them is that their faithful lapdog, the media, is beginning to see that endlessly spouting propaganda has destroyed their credibility, and their monetary value.

When the financial barons behind the big media organizations realize their profits are seriously cratering, the way the media reports is going to change. Therein lies the coming minefield for the Democrats, as the media starts to criticize them as "the party of NO" like they did the GOP during the Obama years.

Impeachment is out, since the Republicans control the House, and Trump has committed no "high crimes and misdemeanors," as spelled out in the Constitution. The other route is the idea that the President can be declared mentally unfit. That has always represented a problem, since the exact mechanism for that declaration has never been spelled out. Woodrow Wilson was undoubtedly incapable of carrying out his Presidential duties after a serious stroke, but no one in Congress was willing to move to declare him incompetent, even when it was obvious the First Lady was acting as the de facto Executive. FDR was obviously seriously ill and in a mental fog during the last year of his term until his death, but no one really wanted Truman to take over.

The other problem for the Democrats is that even if they could somehow take Trump out, Mike Pence becomes President. As an arch conservative, their interests would likely fare even less under a Pence presidency. Things don't get better for them under a President Ryan either, so the only way to change history to the Democrats advantage is a mass assassination that takes out every Republican in the chain of succession. Once the new cabinet is in place, that's a dead end as well, because at least one cabinet secretary is always kept isolated as the designated survivor.

Life is complicated, which is a fact the Democrats seem unable to grasp.

Maybe a national referendum would be in order. The liberty-loving people all agree somehow to populate some states together, and leave the liberals to have the others. Secession without civil war (could never happen actually). I am tired of listening to liberal media nonsense and no longer watch or listen to "news". I helped elect Trump, he IS president, and I want him to do the best job he can for the next 4 years.

We have a way to remove presidents, this is more trash on trying to put road bumps in Trump's agenda that the American people want. Congress should have the same rules as the president, term limits, not a ticket to wealth and riches. Perhaps then we could have statesmen instead of the political class who try to jam down our throats how to live, think, and act.

Exactly! Which is why the Convention of States is so important, it would add a clause to the Constitution for term limits and a balanced budget.

How is the Convention of States coming along? Last I saw we had around 28 states and needed 38.

          Here is their "About" page:

          http://www.cosaction.com/about

          From their latest email:
44 states have filed the COS resolution
          8 States have passed it
18 states have had House passage
11 states have had Senate passage
24 states have passed it out of committee to vote on it.
They keep pounding on them, but since it is a grass roots effort only, it is taking a lot of time and energy, since no politician really wants to go there unless it is held over their head like a hammer.

But if ever we needed one, it is now, this year.

Politians are used to getting their own way. Either by hook or by crook, they will try to abort this uncooperative President. So I am not surprised they are trying to redefine terms in their favor. However, amendments to the Constitution are not interpreted by the Legislature, but by the Judicial. And they better have a compelling argument to set up this new committee besides just kicking out a President they don't like, because if it works, they need to realize the blade cuts both ways and eventually the pendulum swings the other way and your candidate will have their neck on the block.

Assuming a president could be removed who would he be replaced with? There is no worthy choice from among politicians.

They do not care as long as it is "their" guy. They can control "their" guy, and have no idea how to put a leash on Trump...

Trump has a leash as do all the others. He is merely sounding like what 'conservatives' want while giving them exactly the same thing. A promise to repeal the ACA and then replace it is a promise to give you the same thing with a different name that will probably be more controlling and costly.

I do not see him as being leashed like the others, by money and donors calling the tune. He may be trying to pander some, but he made his promises and seems trying to fulfill them. When Ryan offered him "a year or 2" on a replacement, he illustrated exactly what is the issue: It takes years for DC politicos to get their marching orders and have legislation written for them by their patrons, to present as "their own". Trump is not doing any of that, which is why you see the screw ups and wordsmith errors he has. I prefer action over inaction, at this point, because I can believe it is at least, an attempt to do right.
